I have always heard that it is illegal to put flyers in other peoples mailboxes, since it is not your property to be opening up. Is this correct? I would like to try to get some more violin students to teach and the summer is the best time to advertise. I am printing out my flyers now and plan to put them either in between the flag of the mailbox and the actual mailbox, or in the mailbox, if it is legal to do so. I just dont want it to rain suddenly and my flyers get wet.

yes it is the only thing that goes in the mail box is mailed or about to be mailed
it is a federal offense to place anything in the box if your not the owner or the mailperson |

i know its illegal to put things IN a mail box if its not properly addressed etc. but your best bet would be to just go up to the door and give it to the person personally, that way if they dont want it, you wont be wasting your time or fliers. |
