Legal issues regarding theft? VERY IMPORTANT!?

My boyfriends brother ( who is an idiot) came to visit us at our new apartment which is across from a wrecking yard. Well the "idiot" boyfriend talked my boyfriend into going in there late at night and steal parts. About a month or so the wrecking yard owner let my boyfriend know that there was cameras in the wrecking yard and that he was going to charge my boyfriend if we didn't move away. My boyfriend who was also confused about the situation signed an agreement stating that he would give our notice or the owner would call the police. The owners wife called my boyfriend and asked him to go over there but to our understanding (what she told us) it was for if he ever went over there again. But my boyfriend didn't know what to do so he signed it. Is there anything we can do to get out of this stupid situation!?

What you can do to get out of the 'stupid situation' is to move as you agreed to, count your blessings that the owner so far has not turned your boyfriend over to the police, and learn a very valuable lesson about how incredibly stupid it was to steal from someone.For every action there is a reaction - he stole, he got caught, pay the price and consider yourselves very lucky it wasn't a lot worse.

You do not have to move. There may however be legal consequences if the guy decides to file a complaint with the police. This is assuming there is photo evidence that 1. your boyfriend was in fact in the wrecking yard, and 2. proof that he stole something. Trespassing is a minor change. Theft on the other hand can be more serious.
