Legalize Marijuana and totally get rid of pennies?

Not just millions, but BILLIONS for legalizing marijuana alone. I'm sure you may already know this, but for all the other people who don't, or who will argue that legalizing weed will only plummet the economy:

How you may ask? Well, with the legalization of marijuana, we would stop wasting millions of tax dollars on putting people in jail solely for use, sale, or possession, effectively freeing up jail space for REAL criminals. Hemp would most likely retake it's spot as the #1 agricultural export for America, bringing in more money and putting jobs in the hands of needy Americans (somebody needs to do all that work of planting, growing, harvesting, and processing). It's no guarantee, but any American who knows anything about pot knows that with it's legalization shops will pop up all over the country, giving the government something to tax. It's true, they can't completely regulate the pot industry as far as recreational use, but when has that ever been true for our government. Not to mention, look at Amsterdam and BC! Millions of Stoners flock to the area every year for the freedom of being able to buy and consume pot, which creates a tourist industry, bringing in MORE money. The point of looking at BC (even though pot isn't legal there) is that it has built itself a reputation among stoners, which brings in the tourists also. What's to say America can't do the same?

All it takes is a little logical thinking to see how legalizing marijuana can actually propel this country out of debt. Also, yeah, pennies are pretty much useless.

well the legalize part could potentially bring us billions of dollars. but pennies are just annoying to me they stink dirty ugly, its like a ford mustang...everyone has em.

Dont stop there.. Legalize all drugs.. We will make trillion off of them, stop the drug dealers, The job market will be helped, because there will be some many druggies, that businesses will pay a premium for good help. The housing will be helped as their will less deadbeats that will qualify for a loan, so there will be less defaults.. I say lets do it..

Legalize all drugs. Put age limits on them, of course. But then, tax everything. Pot, meth, coke, heroine. Then, don't waste the tax dollars on people who have health problems because of using.

Then, we can have pennies. I like pennies.

I agree with the legalize, but I dunno about getting rid of pennies....My husband and I are broke a lot, and those pennies add up for us...If people don't have any change to give us, they've still usually got some pennies that we can stuff in penny rolls lol.

That is just stupid . People smoke dope when they are teenagers and maybe into college . If you still do it after college then you are a complete moron . But it does have benefits for the sick which I can't argue with . Only losers would still smoke it as an adult !!

In a pure form, yes it would be a great tax revenue source...unfortunately the "War on Drugs" has become so bogged down by government bureaucracy that it probably isn't possible. After all, that would involve shrinking the government.
