How about we start out a little simpler....how about if everyone who gets the death sentence is executed within a reasonable period of time instead of sitting on death row for ten years? And put the other criminals back to work doing hard labor. |

If the severity of the crime calls for it, I always say," a bullet to the head would save on the tax cost of our hard earned money". For the ones who agree with the death penalty, I would certainly hope you can agree. |

Yeah sure why not. Not like any innocent person falls through the crazy loopholes riden justice system we have. While we're at it, let's torture them first and see if they divulge any info on another "criminal". |

Well if someone stole a car you'd kill them for that? If someone even stole a toothbrush you'd kill them for that?
And some people in jail are innocent, they still have trials to go through.
But since I live in cali, they're planning to send prisoners to China (since it's cheaper there of course) because there's no room left in the jail's here, not even for those who stole something. And the chinese kill someone convicted on death row and don't wait for years to do it. They even take the organs of that prisoner for medical use (which by the way is a good idea).
So... you wanna go visit China for free? Here's a way!
Oh and I don't think I agree with you all the way. Just for those who are on death row. |

I believe the punishment should fit the crime...an eye for an eye. You steal, lose a hand. You kill, then you be killed..but it would have to be proven without a reasonable doubt to protect the innocent. |

define felony. if some one commits a petty crime, i.e. stealing a stapler, would you really kill them?? Plus, what if they're really innocent? |

Well............your idea is a little drastic.............
For violent serious crimes....and if the person is convicted without any benefit of a doubt.then yes........death penalty is suitable......
BUT---
There are people who have been wrongly convicted and sentenced....These people should not be executed..... |

In case you haven't noticed, we do NOT live in a utilitarian society. Hospitals don't take away your blood and give it to somebody else just because they could use it more, do they? Death is irreversible. You can't put a price on a human life. If you're wrong, then you will be responsible to the death of thousands of innocent lives. Make the choice. Can you live with yourself? |

Many years ago, England sent their criminals to Australia.
Why don't we just send all of ours there now. They adapted and made it into a great nation, I am sure now they can take our criminals in and develop them into thier nation also |

You obviously didnt think this through, did you? Did you ever stop to think that sometimes innocent people get convicted and later let out of prison? Did you stop to think about people who surrender peacefully because they know they can get a long prison sentence instead of the death penalty? Did you stop to think that those people would instead choose to shoot it out with the cops instead of being taken in alive and wouldnt care if they killed a few cops and innocent civilians in the process? We would have even more reality tv shows with crazy police chases and shootouts than we do now. A law like that would make things worse not better. |

How do you plan to atone for the ones later proved to be convicted wrongly? Don't kid yourself there are lots of miscarriages of justice, particularly around election time.
