Well you know they might catch a nasty infection in the final minutes of their life...... |

This is a "Standard Code of Care" that must be given to every patient, and not following the code is not a option. |

I think simply because it's standard practice. The people doing the injections are medically trained, and they are taught to do things very specifically. |

just because it is procedure and according to law |

I suppose in case they live (immune to the injection) and don't die a horrible death through blood poisoning!
It is probably more to do with dying with dignity. |

It does seem a stupid thing to do,maybe the person who does the injection is just following a protocol |

I think that they are following procedures or a tradition |

they do it because its is the humane way to do it. If they did not sterilize that could be cruel and unusual punishment. |

Why do 7/11's that are open 24 hours have locks on the doors? One of life's great mysteries! |

Its a force of habit for the nurse. They are trained to do that so it becomes a habit. |

I've always wondered the same thing. We are killing someone, why bother. They should use the original two needles for everyone and let them know some of the people killed with these needles had AIDS/HIV, Herpes, Hepatitis A,B,C..etc.. Let them know if they survive the needle.. which they won't.. they are going to die of some very bad disease before they depart to hell. |

I've never witnessed an execution (watching it portrayed in a movie is meaningless), so I don't know that they actually do. |

Don't know---but I always thought it was pretty pointless too. |

I suppose it's their way of showing that they did everything right. That they were humane to the end. You know how we humans pride ourselves on being humane.x |

They sterilise the area as protocol, it is something that is done as standard for every injection done everywhere. It is pointless as the person is going to die. But they have to follow health and safety to the end. Although for most criminals a shot through the head would be better. |

the purpose of lethal injection is to cause as little suffering as possible. I am forced to wonder if the killer was that compassionate with his victims |
