I donno what to do. I started tearing up...after like 30min from the incident. I was ok at first like whata a baster but speechless.
The thing is tho, we get a long...he even hits on me and he LOVES teasing me and joking around. The only reason I am givin him a little bit of leeway is b.c he prolly said it accidently...but it was uncalled for.
IT hurt tho, it made me tear up after...Like i feel everyone judges me on my skin color. I was told by a student that my skin color was too white for a mexican and gave me like a weird look. I am not even WHITE so to speak but I am light skinned-light tan.
Should i just confront him next time I see him (tommorow)...
OR set up an appointment and tell them i was hesitant but...tell the story to human resources. The other manager witnessed this too...and she was shocked too (she said to him "omg, you are soooo rude"

This is where political correctness really ticks me off.
It simply sounds to me like he's gotten to a certain comfort level with you to where he thought he could make a joke and you not get offended by it.
Absolutely it was in poor taste, but unless he continues to make cracks at your heritage, let it go.
Life's too short to get hung up on words, especially if they only happened once.
I've been told I am too light to be Cherokee all my life...it never has bothered me, and I'm 1/4 and on the rolls. |

If he normally jokes around, then he probably meant it as a tease and not as an offensive comment. I would mention it to him next time you see him and tell him that it hurt your feelings. If you go straight to HR, you will piss him off and if you have to keep working with him every day, that would create problems. From what you have described, he probably didn't mean anything by it and would probably be surprised to hear you were upset. |

i would take it up with HR...since he is your supervisor i dont know if confronting him is the best thing.....joking or not its a business place and he should act professional at all times. so just go to HR and ask them to see what you should do. at least thats what i would do....good luck |
