I can't seem to find anything that pertains specifically to this. My boyfriend is currently doing training for a new job, and his first shift is 9 hours long with an hour long break to travel between locations. He still has 2 more 8 hour shifts to do before they decide if he's hired or not, and he isn't being paid a single cent, not even for the gas used up driving him around. Is this legal in Manitoba/Canada?

Kind of strange that there's no information about this. How would he go about getting documentation?

Well, Ive looked as well and cannot find anything specific to what you are asking. But considering the labour laws, Im sure what is going on is wrong. Just make sure your bf is getting any documentation regarding the work he is doing and hours he is putting in. To get the real answer, I suggest you contact the dept of labour of Canada.

He started the job (training), right? There should be a manual or some sort of paperwork he may have regarding the job he is performing. Make sure he writes down what hours he is working, who he is talking to, who his supervisor is, etc. Any paper work they give him is documentation. |
