Marajuana legalization poll?

Im in 8th
and doin an essay on the legalization of weed
a simple yes or no will work, but who ever gives me the best explanation gets the points

YES!

i have never heard a convincing argument supporting prohibition of marijuana, all I've heard is opinions and false facts. our government is just too embarrassed to go back on the failed drug war now, if they legalized drugs people would notice how retarded they are and start thinking for themselves. but they just keep stuffing scare tactics down our throats with no effect. its sick really, no one should be punished for something they do in the privacy of their own home!

also to the person that said marijuana kills braincells and alcohol has no evidence of the same knows nothing about this subject.. alcohol kills so many braincells it aint even funny. marijuana does not kill braincells, actually if you read some studies on this, its actually been found to be a braincell protector!

I personally do not smoke weed but i would say yes. However I do think that it should have an age just like drinking does and I think if people are driving stoned there should also be consequences like there are with drinking! If weed is legalized then the government will prob end up with more money and isnt that what they want is more money! so they should like that!

Jensen
Yes.
If it's not harming anyone, I don't see what the big deal is. You can't OD from it, you can only get a little sick if you smoke way too much.
It should be legal, but have the same restrictions as alcohol...like not driving under the influence.

If it exists in the world, it shouldn't be illegal, it must be in the world for some reason.

And also, I disagree that it's the "gateway drug".
Most people only smoke pot, and never touch any other drug, because they know the difference between pot and other drugs, like heroine.

Heroine you can die from and you can harm other people from being under the influence, pot does not kill and it doesn't alter your way of thinking.

Yes

Alcohol and tobacco are legal, and they're both worse. Also, making marijuana a legal industry could be the thing to pull us out of this bad economy!

Also the people against don't have many reasons other than "my teacher told me so."

WOW Peace on Ice has no idea what she's talking about...

Personally, I would love it if it were legalized, however, I believe the long term consequences of this legalization could be negative. It might have a "slippery slope effect" where it is a gateway for other drugs to be legalized.

Also, I believe that it should have an age limit slapped on to the use of it. Just as alcohol and cigarettes do.

I guess I'm just old but I think that we have enough immorality as it is. I say no.

Jules
Yes, marijuana does less harm to a person and society than alcohol does.

No.

While alcohol and tobacco are both addictive - they do not have the scientifically proven track record of killing off brain cells which are unable to regenerate.

Weed is not a drug that is going to make people violent - quite the opposite - but it has irreversible effects on the brain, nervous system, and intelligence of those who use it on a regular basis.

Those who use it (thus, note the part about a lack of brain cells) will argue that they are fine and there is nothing wrong with their addiction but in reality - they have no clue the damage they are doing to themselves.

The world has enough stupid people without making it legal to kill your brain cells!
