More people than most realize smoke pot. Studies out of ottawa the other day have shown that more 30-40 year old smoke pot than kids. I personally see nothing wrong with it and have tried it, but it's not for me. |

I think it's safer and better than half of the perscription drugs that are pushed on to people. |

I personally think it should be legalized but I don't know all of the harmful after effects of long term use.
From what I understand it is better for you than cigarettes.
I do kind of understand why it's illegal though...people do some really stupid sh*t when they're high lol. Then again the same thing with alcohol and that's legal.
I think it's fine but it should be illegal to drive while high [just like alcohol] because it can alter your mind. |

I think if someone has a terminal disease like HIV/AIDS or cancer, then they should be allowed to smoke marijuana. |

It should be legalized and taxed, just like tobacco. The war on drugs is a waste of money, lives, and jail cells. |

You may not be able to OD, but that doesn't mean that it's anything healthy or beneficial. Heavy users seem to me to be just like the stereotypical stoner - no ambition beyond the next joint. They seem like alcoholics in that way. If that describes you, and it doesn't bother you, then I feel sorry for you.
I also hope you either don't drive, or at least live far away from me. |

This will be sort of biased as I do indeed recreationally indulge in a bit of cannabis from time to time but do I think it should be legalized? No. Why? Because the government likes corrupting nice things with bad chemicals. Legalized "marijuana" will be manufactured with all the same preservatives that you probably find in cigarettes which therefore, make it rather unappealing to the common stoner. >>
Marijuana is not physically addictive and withdrawals are rarely experienced because it is expelled from your fatty tissue for about 30 days after you smoke it, therefore keeping it in your system long enough for your body to accomodate it and absorb it. Psychologically, people may continue buying it thinking they "need" it but will experience no real withdrawals other than lack of motivation when they're cut off. If life's really that bad, skip the ganja and go to a psychologist.
People at some point will bring up that ganja smoking is worse than cigarette smoking because there are no filters- but who do you know that smokes a pack of weed everyday? Right. It's harmful in the sense that it can give you lung cancer. Can you OD on it? Not unless you're some kind of buddhist monk with a will of steel that can surpass the vomiting and frequent passing out whilst somehow continuing to smoke your hookah... |

Marijuana doesnt harm anyone. It helps some people calm down and relax. I think they should legalize it. |

I live in the U.S., so my answer refers to my country. Although I don't smoke pot, I think that by legalizing it, it could be regulated and taxed, shrinking our deficit dramatically. I think it's much less harmful than alcohol, considering how many drunk driving accidents there are on a daily basis. I think our prison population would be reduced dramatically. I think our farmers would have a viable cash crop that grows quickly and is easy to harvest.
I think my answer may not be very popular. |

I think it should be legalized. Unlike alchohol, where you can drink and drink until you're unable to walk, and if you keep drinking you will eventually die....a marijuana high has a ceiling. You reach a certain point where you cannot get any higher.
As Gallagher used to say, "if you smoke a whole bag of pot, you don't get more high, you just get less pot."
This reason alone is why it should be legalized, considering that it's much more dangerous alternative, alcohol, is regularly available. |

There is nothing wrong with pot, in most cases it's a good thing. But not for our government. Pot will never be leagalized simply because the government wouldn't be able to control it. You say let them tax it, if they did that it would be leagalizing it. Then most people would start to grow there own, thus they couldn't control it. It doesn't lead to other drugs as they would have you believe, but they will keep pounding that into everyones head. Alcohol they can control, even though it kills thousands every year it brings in tons of revenue. Keeps the courts busy. Far be it for the government to let you have something that would help you, rather they give you what hurts, and kills you. Hooray for big brother! |

it's people's choice whether they want to blow their bains out but it's true, there is no OD and you can avoid lung and respiratory issues, there would be a lot less crime. i say it's legal but not in public because i'm sure i'm not the only one who gags when they smell pot. |

It can be harmful to your lungs. It's the same principle as smoking cigarettes, It's your personal choice. Legalizing it.....I don't think it would be a great idea.
Think about it 100000's of people were stoned out of their mind driving around, working in factories, ringing up YOUR money on registers and stuff. Imagine what would happen..
Wrecks, deaths, missing money. Weed is know to cause memory loss. If every stoner out there had permission to actually use it 24/7 that wouldn't be too great.
For medical purposes, yes it should be.
I think people with kids shouldn't smoke. If your Young and having fun, and can still hold a job and be responsible, then sure go for it.
I think at a certain point in your life you should grow out of it. It is, however, still harmful to your lungs. Smoking one joint is like smoking two cigarettes at once.
It has also been linked to dementia when you get older. Also, it does still kill your brain cells, which once you stop smoking will generate themselves back.
I don't think it should be legalized because then people that have kids and smoke wouldn't be as responsible, people on their jobs could risk lives (in factories) for not paying attention and operating it right.
So pretty much, my theory it's fine to use once in awhile, it's more of a addiction than a harmful threat to your health. If you can do it and still be responsible for yourself, then sure go for it. |

it was made by satan
"and the dark prince casteth the seeds of his design onto the earth. Thus grew the infernal plant--and that all who smoketh it are bound to damnation. Heed this, for here there is warning: take thee not a hit nor when should a pothead beg thee for thy hound or toaster or spar ed change, giveth not"
