Filing a false police report is a crime. There will be a lot of cops looking for the suspect, and a lot of effort wasted based on her lie.
She will be prosecuted for it. |

Yes. Ever heard of Jennifer Wilbanks? |
|

Low Key

Yes it is. I don't know if it's making a false police report, obstruction, a combination of the two, or something worse, but it is definately illegal. |
|

yes - it's highly illegal - she could very well end up in a juvenile detention center. |

If she misleads the police, then technically she is wasting police time, and that is an offense. |

YES!! Someone did that around here in Wisconsin and was humilated and charged with fees. It cost money to send a search crew out to find you! Police, equipment, time, helicopters..... |

she will get into a boat load of trouble. and probably go to jail. bad idea. |

False Alarms are illegal. To waste the time and money of the police department will be quite costly to the person/family. Also, this person will cause great emotional harm/distress to the family, and it is not likely that she will be forgiven |

It is illegal to file a false police report or to give false info to the police investigating a crime.
It's also mean, selfish and stupid.
What happens when she gives a description of her "kidnappers" and the police arrest someone who matches the description? It has happened.
Does "she" want to be responsible for that? |

Ever heard of the boy who called wolf?
If she goes threw with it, one day something bad will actually happen to her and no one is going to bother looking. |

duh,...she'll be misleading police they arrest her she will get in trouble. Tell her if she's big enough to run away that she should be big enough to tell her parent. |

Yes and depending on her age she can be charged as an adult in some states. |

The running away from home for a week is a big deal to her parents...the saying she was kidnapped is a big deal to law enforcement...it's a big NO-NO! |
|

Yes, it is. PLUS it's stupid. |

It's very illegal.
More importantly, it's incredibly selfish and heartless.
If you were a real friend, you'd tell someone about what she is doing so that she doesn't get herself raped and kidnapped for real. |
|

The Redox

yes,she will arrest and complain againts by police for misleading and wasting government time and other resources.so if she trying to do that better to do it without catching.but the easiest way ,beg her ,don't do it,. |

If she's going to "say she was kidnapped" to someone who will foreseeably puts city or state services into motion, and if she is eighteen or older, she can be charged with fraud and negligence. If she is under eighteen, then she'll just make a lot of people very angry, but she won't be charged with a crime (unless she has a history of delinquency). |

.It's called failing a false criminal report, it is illegal ,she could get in a lot of trouble.Your friend could also cause criminal charges to be placed on anyone one else who aides her in this false report, even a friend who has knowledge of her false report. A real friend would not go alone with falsehood. Tell her it is wrong. She could be harmed. If she is under age ,please tell an adult you can trust? Find addresses and telephones numbers of helplines/shelters,police stations.Urge your friend to rethink the whole silly plan. |

Why would she wanna do that. |

Yes it's illegal and when she's found she'll be paying large fines, doing some time, community service and she'll be humiliated when it's all over with. Better try to talk her out of it. If she wants to run away that's one thing but making a false claim to law enforcement and having tax dollars spent on an investigation and search is another. |

Making a false police report is definitely illegal. Your "friend" needs to gain some maturity. |

It would get her into a heap of trouble and possibly end up with her or her parents footing the bill for all the searching that will be done for her.
*You* may even get in hot water for knowing and not coming forward when the search is on. Why isn't she brave enough to just leave a note saying she is running away? Not that I think that is a good idea, either!
But why "for a week"? And has she considered how the police are going to grill her for a description of the person who abducted her? How will she feel if someone is falsely accused of the kidnapping? Since she is willing to put her parents or someone else through hell for her own personal reasons, I suppose she may not mind if an innocent person (or persons) gets arrested and has huge lawyer bills trying to defend him/herself, not to mention missing out on work time and possibly losing pay.
Unlike you, if she goes through with this, for the above reasons I will not care a bit if she has to pay a whopping fine and/or go to jail; she will just be reaping what she has sown. So I hope she will change her mind about this hare-brained scheme. |

Very bad idea. Her parents will call the cops and the cops will question her non stop and I can tell you that they WILL figure out she was lying. She will be in ALLOT more trouble then she can even imagine.
Jail time is very likely.
There have been many cases where someone tried to pull off the "I was kidnapped" thing. All went to jail. |

Illegal in many of ways! |

it might not be illegal per say, but on the other hand it may be. i take it she's gonna stick to her story and say no matter what that she was kidnapped? that might be illegal, and horrifying to her parents/guardians/people she lives with. i would not advise her running away. what is so bad at home that she has to run away. talk to her and hang out with her more often, she may not feel as bad |
