You can not sack her for being pregnant ... she could sue you for unfair dismissal ..... and you have to keep her job open for her as well ... but she will have to inform you at least a month before she is due to return to work that she is coming back or not |

In the United States, one cannot get fired for getting pregnant. In fact, any business with 25 employees or more, should have a pregnacy clause/info. in its manual. |

You cannot fire her as a result of her pregnancy. IF her work becomes sub-par but is not related to her pregnancy you can sack her.
The fact of the matter is though, all aspects of her life are now directly related to her pregnancy.

Legally.....you can't fire her for being pregnant. She can, however, take you to court if she even has a remote clue that is why she was fired. Why fire her in the first place? She really will need a job now. She has a child to take care of. |

If you lived in a free country, you could have sacked her immediately. The fact that you cannot do that means that government has intruded far beyond what they should have. In a logical world, it would be recognized that the employer owns the job, not the employee, and that the employee is employed at the whim of the employer.
All this intrusion into the private contract between employer and employed means you've sunk deep into socialism. Just be glad you don't have the French socialist 'job-for-life' employment regime. |

You can't! Laws protect expecting women. She could continue to work for you up to the day she delivers. Then she has (by law) maternity time. If she doesn't want to return by the time that term is up, you can then "sack her"...but shame on you for thinking that way!!! She's only pregnant - it's not like she's diseased or something! |
