I live in Florida. My ex has requested a child support modification to lower the support. My income has also lowered, by 90%. I'm scared this will cut the child support by half. If this happens, my son and I will be homeless. Could they lower it that much? Or is there a guideline by how much (DOR) they can lower the child support?
Additional Details
I have a job babysitting. I lost my job that I had back in 2005 due to this crappy economy. I apply for jobs every day, and don't even get a call! the babysitting job is helping me pay rent.

They will only take into consideration his other children IF he is paying child support for them. If he has remarried and has children, his wife will be expected to help support THEIR children.
Also, you need to get a lawyer (consult legal aide if you have to or seek out a free legal clinic) and you need to file to have his child support increased. Also, why is your income cut? You will be expected to find more work but if you have residential custody of your child, you are unlikely to be forced to find a second job because you need to care for a child.

it will be based on his income, it can only be a certain percentage of his total income and they will take into account if he has other children he is supporting also |
