Wait for them to ring again, then contact your telecommunications company and say to them that you have just received some nuisance calls.
Also, you can tell them the following:-
Under UK law, The Harassment Act 2000 and the Telecommunications Act, if you keep contacting myself or by phoning this telephone line again I will report you to the Police in the UK and have your company reported.
Then put the telephone down |

When they call, say nothing and simply set the receiver down and quietly walk away. This way they can spend a minute or so talking to themselves before they realize no one is there. Do this a few times and eventually they will get the message. I do this with telemarketers all the time; I simply set the phone down, I do NOT hang up, and let them talk to themselves. Maybe ten minutes later when I pass by the phone again I will hang it up. You own them NO explanations.
Most of the time I simply do not have the time nor inclination to explain to them why I do not want what they are selling and do not want to listen to them try to convince me why I really do. It's easier just to walk away and let them blabber away to their heart's content for a while, at least they will feel like they are doing something. |

Get a telephone number for the stockholding/ shareholder company and take this to your local police station for them to deal with the harrassment you have had to go through.
OR, contact your telephone provider and ask them to block the call from their end.
Simple. |

i have the same problem, best thing is ring your service provider theres thing called dirext X which blocks withheld numbers and any other numbers u want...or talk 2them as tho ur interested and take down details of who u talked2 their name extension number etc..and at the end tell them..u've had enough of being harassed and wantto be taken off their system if u r not your going tot he police with their company details and r going2point that person out in particular bcoz u have their details and they r the last contact u had witht he company..therefore u know if u recieve any more calls thta person has not taken u off the sysytem.
worked for me. |

well there has to be a reason for this.......if your wealth, or if they think you are, it could be just a prank call, but if you want ask them the name of there company and ask for their names
then look up that company on the internet and send them a little email |

This is easy. When they call, just say: "Hold on a minute while I switch the kettle off..." Then go off and do your own thing, returning later to replace the handset. After a couple or so incidents like this, they will never call you again |

Do you have caller ID, don't answer the phone if you can help it. And tell you dad not to feel bad about hanging up on people like that. If they can't take no then they are desperate. Who knows if it's a scam or not or even a real company. Just ask them to take your dad off the list of people they call. If they can't respect that, first hang up and if they insist on calling back continuesly, they're doing it against the law. |

Do you have a do not call list? Or DNC list like the US? You can be asked to be put on their do not call registry, it gets rid of all telemarketing and sales calls for 8 years, you do have to re-new ever 8 years, but its nice not having any annoying people call you.
If you can register you number and you have a telemarketer call you more than once after you told them you are on the registry, take all their information and sue. |

When they ring just put the phone down and leave it off the hook for a while. Keep doing it everytime they call and they will soon get the message. You could just press buttons on the phone and they will just hear the beeps and you will get on their nerves. Good Luck. |

two things. Either send the company a letter saying that you consider such calls harassment under the 1997 harassment act and if they continue you will be filing charges, or wait until the next time they call and either hang up or place the phone receiver on the table and let them talk for ages and run up their phone bill pointlessly |
