I recommend that you talk with an attorney who specializes in the law that involves professional licensing.
I also recommend that you talk with several criminal defense attorneys. You might wish to explore the possibility of having your conviction thrown out.
The most important question is whether or not you did it.
For example there have been a number of cases where people were convicted of serious crimes, however when DNA testing became common, it was found that the DNA found at the crime scene did not match the DNA of the person who was convicted.
Those cases are being thrown out. People who were convicted and sent to prison are being released and are receiving some rather substantial financial compensation for the time they served on a wrongful conviction. |

It depends on what you did. If it was a violent crime, that's not good. If it was a crime involving dishonesty, that's not good either. Either way, once you complete probation or whatever sentence you were given, you can usually apply to have it expunged from your record. It depends on your state laws. I would talk to an attorney specializing in criminal law. You do have options. Hopefully it was just a misdemeanor. If it was a felony, after a certain amount of time, you can apply to have it reduced to a misdemeanor in many states |
