As far as I know, according to the law garbage is public domain. This could be interpreted a number of different ways including that it is legal for them to rummage through your garbage, and also that there is no stipulation saying that they cannot use your garbage can for their own use. One thing you can do however is rummage through their garbage and look for anything you can use to get back at them with. MUAH HAHAHAHAH |

I'd video tape them taking their garbage to yours, and say either pay a portion of the bill or stop doing it without asking... |

can you put the garbage back on their lawn or part of their property??? (leave it on their door step) |

empty your can into theirs
and say they brought it upon themselves |

We had the same problem. It stopped rather abruptly when we put some old furniture and tires in front of their house late the night before trash pickup. They got the point and started paying for their own trash pickup. |

Call the police and ask about illegal dumping laws; I had this problem with a neighboring business and had to get papers out of their garbage with their names on it and the police gave them a ticket for illegal dumping. |

try putting your can out at the last minute. or if you know when they are putting trash in your container like at night or in the morning be there with your camera to snap a pic of them doing it and then show them the pic and tell them you will report them to the police and waste company for their illegal actions. |

I would think it would be illegal to dump garbage in front of your house and a citation from the police could stop them.
Or what I did with the dogs next door poo, I shoveled it up and threw it on their front steps.
Eventually it stopped. |

Do you pay for your trash service? If you do then I'd call the police and tell them! They do that so they don't hve to pay for trash service! Get a camera and film them doing it! |

Tell them to stop, if they don't, dump their garbage on their lawn. |

Suing is expensive!! Talk with the chair of your community, or if that doesn't work, contact the local police. Your neighbors will get the picture. |

Buy a shotgun and show it off in your front yard when they are outside. Aim it at something so they know you mean business. |

let it go and be nice there are more important things to do than suing them because of garbage |

If you are paying the Waste Management company for the service then it would be considered theft of services. If it is a free service what's the problem.
Isn't most garbage dirty? |

If you use Waste Management as the garbage guys, they'll charge you extra if you have more trash there than what you signed up for removal. That and the other individual is probably in default with the garbage guys so they won't pick up their trash. Call the garbage guys then call the HOA. The HOA can probably ding them for dumping illegally on your property.
Good luck. |

yes you can sue them |

i would talk to them and find out why. Tell it to authorities |

That's easy, next time you see this put on some gloves and go out and take their garbage out of your can and put it on their doorstep. |

Sue?, lol! Thanks I needed that. I'd wait to put the garbage down and do it when the truck pulls up! |
