Try to talk your parents out of it; tell them about how you are going to quit and how if the cops charge you then that could negatively effect college and your future job prospects.
If that doesn't work, then just make sure you don't rat. You're right on the line for felonies with a 1/2 oz., so you might just get a misdemeanor anyways. Either way, don't rat- remember the rhyme, snitches get stitches.

while I do not approve of what you did, I think your parents should have a complete understating of the potential criminal liability you face by them going to the authorities with the illegal drugs and scale which may equate to distribution charge against you no matter if you turn in your supplier

Just an arrest can hinder college, future job placement etc,

I am just saying maybe your parents should take care of this in house so to speak, one where you can learn from your mistakes

Tell your parents you werent selling that you were using it. And tell them if you confess to the police you will go to jail and will not implicate yourself in court.
Flush all the evidence away. Tell them they are stupid and dont care about you if they want you to risk jail time over this. Promise to stop using weed (or selling) but you arent going to confess to the police cause that would be just plain stupid. Confessing to a crime could get you jail time, probabtion, and a permanent record! Which will prevent you from attending college and getting a job later in life!
So no dont do it. Steal the weed back from them and FLUSH it all. If you wrote down anything about weed (like who you sell to and how much etc) rip it all up and burn it or shred it well!

Apologize to your parents but tell them "no it would be stupid of me to confess to the police. They would charge me. And if I turn in other people they might kill me or severely beat me up. Or I could end up in the same jail as the people i turned in! Confessing will ruin my chances of getting a good job or going to college."

Destroy all evidence. If your parents do not have evidence against you then if they go to the police and tell on you DENY IT ALL! No evidence means the police cant charge you! Or most likely the case could be thrown out. If your parents try to turn you in make up a good story like you go out all night and your parents just assume you do/sell drugs. etc. Create a good story and stick with the same story if you have to. If you have to call your parents liars do it to protect yourself. And then get a public defender.

But basically dont confess to the police. Refuse. Destroy all evidence now!

well, don't narc or you could end up dead. Lie, lie and lie some more and then STOP doing that. The gov't wants to tax weed, you are taking away their tax money. Good luck man.

First, minors shouldn't be using cannabis. It is illegal for one, but even still, several studies show that it can have very detrimental effects to a developing young mind. Second, your parents making you go into the police to narc out your buddy you got it from is not the answer either. Refuse, refuse, refuse to do that. Your parents should realize that marijuana is not something to ruin someones life over. If you or your buddy gets in legal trouble, you can't get financial aid to go to college, for one, and there are many other negative effects of the legal system on cannabis users. You got caught by your parents, so its you and your parents' problem. Don't drag down your friends or try to involve police in your family's personal matters.

The best thing to do is be honest with your parents, tell them you'll stop doing it until you get your own place and actually stick to it. You're better off not using cannabis right now anyways. If you want to do illegal stuff, get your own place and do it.
