no this is not right. the parents should be filing a civil suit against the mother. they wont get far in suing myspace, because myspace had nothing to do with it. just because things were transfered thru myspace doesn't make them responsible. ultimately the mother shouldn't have done what she did. |

myspace wasnt the culprit it was the mom..so the mom should be getting sued... |

no, the mother who pretended to be a boy who turned her down should get sued. |

Sure it's right. It is a criminal investigation, and it is possible that Myspace may be in possession of evidence. It's no different than any other search warrant. Why should they be exempt? |

yes its right, i just sued my landscaper because the wind blew a tree branch down and dented my car. |

..Seriously?
People should not take things so seriously.. What was this 13 year old girl doing on myspace trying to pick up guys, anyway? The parents should have been taking care of their daughter better.. |

yes. it proves what a dangerous place `my space` is. it also proves how easy it is to pretend to be someone else, e.g. (a pedophile)! |

I'm on the fence on this issue. On one hand, no, Myspace should not be sued for the actions of one ignorant parent. Said parent is a predator and used a website to lure in and trap an innocent teenager whose life unfortunately ended tragically.
On the other hand, Myspace should take greater responsibility in preventing young teens from getting on to the site. Considering the amount of cyber-bullying, threats, death warnings, suicides, etc, something needs to be done.
I don't know the answer to this sad story but someone needs to be held accountable...period. |

no sue the friend's mother because if she knows the girl well enough to play a prank with her then she should have known that she was mentally unstable |

I think this country is going sue happy. The woman of the girl knows the mother doesn't have any money, but Myspace does from the ads they put on their site. They cannot control certain issues like that. It would be like the suing a newspaper because in their classifieds there was a bogus job in the paper. I couldn't win that crap. |

I don't think so but it's up to the courts. |

Well there is a far bigger story then this. Starting with the fact that the this other girl was pretending to be the boy. She was hitting on the girl who killed herself. It was all with malicious intent. Then the other went on and started using that same name. It was WRONG of the mother. Now what was Myspace supposed to do? Granted what happened could clearly be seen to have caused the girl to kill herself. Thing is that I don't see where Myspace was at fault or what they could do to prevent it. Sadly the city claimed there was no law being violated(yeah I could find some like harassment, impersonation of some sort and probably some others if you really stretch it) so they couldn't do anything. That is what ended up putting this all at Myspace's doorstep basically. I think the mother should sue that other girl's mother for WRONGFUL DEATH. |

No it is not right...It is like smokers suing the tobacco companies and people suing gun makers for a murder...STUPID |

With any luck, this suit will be thrown out by the judge. This is not the fault of myspace, its the fault of a stupid little girl not being able to take rejection because her parent's probably never denied her of anything she wanted thus she didn't know how to deal with rejection. |

no tis not right..
just because her daughter was sick in the head she found an excuse and it was myspace.. |

I don't think that this was myspace's fault, because it wasnt them who did it, but then again: it was done through the site, so that's why they are partly responcible |

i am sure the parents just want to profit from the death of their daughter(which is sad) |

no, it isn't right! it could have happened with any website or source. |

Mom's fault. Not myspace. |

It's a very horrible thing that happened, an abuse of rites we have in our country, but My Space was purely the medium in which these evil people did this disgraceful thing. These poor people may as well sue the entire internet if that be the case. My heart goes out to them, but I'm sure someone with that kind of capacity for evil would have found another way to spread it anyway. |

I do not think myspace is responsible, nor do I think the family should sue...If you read the terms and conditions, it encourages parents to be aware of the content that their children are viewing...I have read about this case alot, and the family first tried to sue the family that created the fake persona that let the girl down and lost that suit. It is terrible about that poor girl, but ultimately it comes down to communication with your children, and knowing when to recognize what emotion they may be experiencing whether it be love, hate, embarassment or even devastation...kids need privacy, but sometimes parents need to invade that privacy to protect their children...I am not saying it is the parents fault either, I just think that there was some lost understanding and communication where that child was concerned...suing anyone will not bring her back...they should be using their time educating other parents on the signs they missed... |

its not mysapces fault that she got rejected. its a shame she went to that extreme, kids need to know that in life you will get rejected but you need to grow from that and move on with your life, not end it |

how is this even myspace's fault? Come on people get real.. people now adays just need someone to blame stupid s**t on.. it doesn't freaking matter... |

They should sue and bring criminal charges against that crazy mom who did that to the girl; not myspace. She is responsible for the child committing suicide so she should be charged with murder.
If that was my daughter who died, I would. |

I don't think it's right. It's cause myspace has money and that pretender lady is just some hoe bag trash with nothing better to do and no money. |

Another way to find someone to sue, why not sue the mom instead? I see a lot more standing for that. I'm shocked it has taken this long for some ridiculous person to sue Mypace but I'm sure it wont be the last |

The mom suing myspace is NO different than a mom suing Budweiser for their daughter being killed do to drunk driving. That case will get thrown out. The daughter's mom should be suing the boy's mom! |

No it isn't. It's a real tragedy for the families involved. Parent need to take responsibility for their children, especially these days. This is difficult to say but I believe both family's should have been monitoring their children. As far as the mother of the Friend? A real whack-o. I hope she is found guilty in the civil suit and punished accordingly. |
