National Service Vs Thugs saying sorry?

National service all the way!
If i was a victim i'd never want to see my attacker again! and i would feel angry if they were forced to say sorry to me.
I'm sick of political correctness and treading on egg shells all of the time!
I'm a teenager, and i say bring back the cane! and DEFINITELY national service!
My generation is full of thugs who need sorting out, and making them apologise isn't going to do much good. Believe me, the modern day teenager is far too arrogant to feel an apology is any kind of punishment.
This country needs sorting out.

I`ve been in both borstel(short sharpe shock)....and national service....lets say....i think it did me good....gave me a direction to lead my own life....and not follow the way into proper crime i could of looked forward to....but also its helped me understand why people look to crime.
After three months in borstel....i found army basic training a breeze...
so i can only say for my part borstel and national service

Saying they are sorry doesn't mean they are sorry. I'm not familiar with the National Service in Britain but military school sounds pretty good.

Perhaps a sense of perspective might be useful. Why should the vast majority who have nothing to do with knife crime be forced to engage in National Service?

And why do should our professional armed services be landed with the job of disciplining these louts? I'd much rather they were doing a professional job of ensuring the defence of the realm.

But you've deliberately misunderstood the calls for knife carriers to meet with knife victims.

A sensible programme would be aimed, not at the worst thugs - they need locking up, no question. But what about the ordinary kids, who believe they are carrying a knife for 'protection' and who almost certainly have no intention of using it - but of course they do!

What do we do about them? Lock up knife carriers and we criminalise them. Will putting them in YOIs, some of the most violent places in the land 'cure' them? Or will it reinforce their 'bad boy' image.

Or what about forcing these youngsters to face up to the consequences of knife crime? Spend an afternoon with the mother of a knife murder victim. Let them see the effects that carrying knives has. Make them meet with people who have facial disfigurements, or disabilities as a result of knife attack. Force them to make that link between them carrying a knife, and someone being disfigured or invalided for life.

It's not about saying sorry - it's about understanding that actions have serious consequences. Of course it won't work for those already used to using knives. But perhaps it's a better solution for those on the edge who aren't yet criminalised.

Remember, that once we send someone to prison, their chances of gainful employment plummet, and we end up paying for them, in benefits and prison keep, for the rest of their lives. Let's not do it until we're sure that other avenues don't work.

Well, firstly, I would also prosecute the Parent's of these low life's, as I see it if they had more control them their low lives would not be doing what they are doing.
secondly. I would ban all the rubbish coming in from these game companies, ban all violent films and stop the American programmes, rap stars and anyone else peddling their violent wares here in the UK.
As regards National Service. It wouldn't work, basically because these low life's would probably need someone to hand their hands as they would be crying for Mummy every night. Put them in a Boot Camp with a massive 20 foot barbed wired fence all round it.
Give no privileges at all and make them work 18 hours day.
As regards saying Sorry to someone in hospital I don't think so. Tell you what I would not allow a low life to come anywhere near me or mine.

I say a good thrashing is what they want first of all. the problem is they have never felt any serious pain themselves so by starting off with showing them pain may make them think again before infliction any on other people, if that does not work thrash them again and if that does not work thrash them again sooner or latter they will get the message and we will get some Peace. Hey Nintendo thats a good idea but how about giving them a good kick up the bol*cks as well.
