One of my family members died and we suspect it to be because of malpractice.

How can I find research about the hospital on my own to see if anything like this has ever happen before?

Also, I'm going to hire a lawyer, its just that I want to do my own research in the matter, so can you guys help me on where I should start my research, or locate me to websites I could go to?

You might want to talk to a lawyer before doing any such research. The legal question is likely to have nothing to do with whether "this has happened before." You should check with the lawyer but the question is probably only did the doc commit malpractice as to your relative.
