Need help with CA employment law - legal deductions?

If a company pays on the 15th & 30th of the month, and is paid 'to-date' (time is accrued up to the day of pay; i.e., employee submits time for the 1st-15th, then is paid on the 15th) however, the employee misses work (w/ a doctor's note) on the 13th -15th, can the company legally deduct the time missed from the following paycheck?

I am the employer & live in another state, but was told by an employee of CA that deducting for 'past time' is illegal in CA. Trying to verify this, as I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else. Personally, I would expect the time to be deducted from my next check...

I'd call the Labor board office locally.
As long as you pay the time worked, I don't believe there is any requirement |
