I live in Texas. I am married, but my husband and I have never lived together, we have two seperate addresses. My husband buys formula for the baby sometimes and comes to visit a few times a month but does nothing else. Will I be able to get child support? I need some help. Are we considered seperated? Please help! Thanks

My husband and I do not communicate very well, if I discuss something with him we always argue.I really do't want to fight anymore, I just want my child taken care of cause all he does now is buy formula and that's not a constant thing.

You don't need to be divorced to collect child support. Go to the court and fill out a financial statement and petition the court to make him pay child support. They will serve him notice to appear and he will have to fill out a financial statement as well and that will determine the amount he will have to pay. If he does not appear he'll be in contempt of court and will be subject to arrest. |

Yes you can get child support. Get a family law lawyer to discuss it with you and then handle it for you. First consultations with family law lawyers are often times free. Get on it and find out what you will need to do. |

why not? sit down with the child's father & discuss how you will both financially support the child. work out an agreement that you both like & stick to it. as long as you remain dedicated co parents, the child will thrive. this way, the courts don't have to become involved in your personal problems. |
