Neighbor has a warrant, what should i do?
Find answers to your legal question.

Neighbor has a warrant, what should i do?

I personally know this person, and they personally have told me they have a warrant out for their arrest, for passing bad checks. I even looked them up online, and they really do have a warrant out for their arrest.

They kind of accidently told me because i overheard them talking about it. Now, they are threatening me if i tell. I dont know what to do.

I am afraid if i tell, that they will find out it was me. I dont want them knowing it was me.

The cops dont know this person lives there, because they have all the bills, etc, mail, etc in someone elses name. That someone else is covering for them.

What should i do?

Mind my own business? This person is a criminal, and i have children. This person has threatened my family if i turn them in. Wont i get in trouble for knowing this person has a warrant, and not doing anything about it?

Call crimestoppers or your local anonymous tip line where you will remain just that, anonymous. Other than that leave it alone.

dude.
Keep it to yourself, that's your ace in the hole for when the music is too loud, a car's blocking your driveway, etc.

Email me with the local police numbers and his details and I will turn his butt in!

You can anonymously tip them or you could just not say anything. If they are threatening you wouldnt you want them to get the hell away from your house?

If you are super attached to this person, then I would just pretend that you had no idea. If they are threatening you and you don't want them around, anonymously tip off the police. Hey the police "finds" these people on their own all the time. And i'll be that you are not the only person other than the police that knows.

Um, well, you have a couple of choices. You can, of course, choose to mind your own business and let it go. I understand that you have kids, but this guy passed some bad checks, it's not like he's an axe murderer or something.

That said, if this person has threatened you, that's whole different story. Personally, I would call the police just on principle (not for the checks, but for the threats), and tell them what you told us: that you overheard it, the guy confirmed it to you and then threatened you. Make it clear to the police that you need a restraining order or protection of some kind if and when they come and arrest or charge this person. Also make it clear that you are fearful for your safety and your family's; the cops might not care about his bad checks either, but they'll take threats more seriously.

You can also usually make anonymous tips to the police, for example, if you can tell the police what the make and model and license number of this person's car is, then if he ever gets pulled over, he'll be arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Just mind your own business.
