What good would this do really? They can learn to build any number of explosive items (bombs) on line. (And that does not take much time either like you seem to think it does. And you don't think that anyone can buy any type of gun illegally on the street? lol
There are plenty of gun laws, does not deter criminals one bit.

What if someone uses just cans of gasoline and burns a school down or any thing else?? . You going to ban gas too? What about toxic chemicals? The list is very long. There are many ways that someone who is intent on murder, revenge or whatever can accomplish his goal.You are very naive my friend.

I understand your frustration. I am also not a huge fan of guns, but I think everyone has the right to own them if they so choose to LEGALLY.

My problem with more laws: You honestly think that someone that is planning on breaking the laws anyways, and plans on using a gun, is really going to stop and NOT use a gun because of a law? Criminals are the ones that break the laws with guns. Laws don't stop criminals. If they did, then we wouldn't have criminals, now would we.

I think that things need to change in the mindset of children. Where in the world are they getting the idea that the best way to settle disagreements is with a gun? THAT is where we need to begin to stop all of this. AND parents need to take responsibility for their children. I scoff when I hear what police find in these kids bedrooms. My parents KNEW what I had, and if they didn't, it was nothing more significant than a pack of gum. If I was stockpiling weapons, my parents would know - and kick my butt. What in the world were these kids parents doing that they were too busy to notice all of this stuff???????? Answer that question, and you will solve the true issue.

So, obviously if someone steals your car, when you left it unlocked or with the keys in it, or you willingly loan your car and that person runs over and kills someone else you would accept that you should be charged with murder?

See my "best answer" regarding guns from a couple of days ago. You are sadly misguided. By the way, some people question the fairness of suing cigarette manufacturers, fyi. In many cases, I don't believe charging the parents would make a difference. Some of these kids probably hate their parents. As long as a parent makes a "good faith effort" to keep guns locked, I believe they should be in the clear

in Michigan when you register a handgun the police dept GIVE you a gun lock. Most handgun manufactures send trigger locks with the weapon on sale. It is up to each and everyone that owns a firearm to KEEP THEM from falling into the wrong hands even if it is their own children. Charging the parents will not help. Most of the kids that do this kind of stuff would shoot the parents just for target practice. New laws aren't the answer.

Regarding the Columbine shooting; 17 federal, state and local gun control laws were broken before those kids ever started shooting.

A new law would get a lot of press for the politicians and convince the media and their gullible audience that they've solved the problem. Maybe we should allow the police and DEMAND that the courts enforce the laws already on the books. Maybe we should turn the sociopaths over to the grieving families and let them rip them to shreds on national television.

Oh, wait, that would be insensitive to the sociopaths. We must be understanding and protect THEIR rights. Let's give them a book and movie deal instead.

After Columbine, my school district banned guns in the high school parking lot. I felt very unsafe knowing that I and my rule-abiding friends could have our lives at the mercy of any psycho who decided to ignore the rule.

Only in an unarmed environment can a lone gunman cause so much harm. BTW Hardhead's answer is easily the best.

Except for saying that guns need to be safely stored, you are wrong about everything. I will break it down for you.

Your cigarette analogy is very poor because smoking is never a safe activity and tobacco companies purposefully mislead the public for years about that. Gun manufacturers, to my knowledge, have never mislead consumers about the hazards of guns. New guns come packaged with about a dozen warning labels and half the owners manual is about safety.

Your point that â€œguns are only designed to killâ€ is completely irrelevant. Killing is sometimes necessary and proper in defense of life. On a side note guns are often used to STOP harm as well, as in â€œgo away I have a gunâ€.

So since when have parking lots been safe havens? Do they hold some magical property which ensure that no criminal could possibly find a victim? Why donâ€™t you ask a woman walking alone at night through a dark parking garage how safe she feels? Also tell her she shouldnâ€™t be allowed to carry a gun.

Thatâ€™s wonderful that you havenâ€™t ever needed a gun. Some people do however. Also itâ€™s no guarantee that you wonâ€™t ever need one either, unless you are rich enough to be able to afford your own security guards.

I take a lot of offense to your "question", which I'm sure you intended. Gun manufacturers are not immune to the law as you put it, there was a law passed to protect them from lawsuits brought by victims of gun crime, which makes sense since you wouldn't sue a tool company for someone using a hammer as a weapon. But they are in no way off the hook for criminal charges. I recall Bushmaster being sued for doing business that had several guns "missing" from their inventory.

If someone actually wants to kill someone I really don't think they will care if they or their parents go to jail, since people today know that if they kill someone they could go to jail. But guess what, they still do.

How are gun companies supposed to make guns safe and secure other than putting a device called a safety on their guns? Their products are actually imprinted with warnings on them, so they are very safe, it's the idiot who uses it for criminal purposes that is unsafe. Guns are NOT made for the sole reason to kill as you say. Many firearms are made for sporting purposes that make them extremely unpractical for criminal reasons. I personally am a sportsman who uses firearms for competitive means. I participate in local and state shooting matches which take great measures to ensure the saftey of the competitiors and spectators. Actually sport shooting is one of the safest sports there is. How many sports would you get kicked off your team for not following the saftey rules exactly.

Just because I loan a gun to a friend means I am encouraging gun crime? Just recently I borrowed a Remington 700 from my dad's friend for a hunting trip, does that make me a mass murdering sociopath? The more people that have guns the safer it is. This is proven by the statistics from concealed carry laws. Which shows that in states with more concealed carrying gun owners there is less gun crime. Why? Because if a criminal tries to rob a store and somone near by has a gun, chances are the criminal will be shot. Police aren't a good defense against crime rather they are an offense on crime. The police solve crime, armed citizens prevent crime.

No, they wouldn't reconsider because they haven't been taught to care or have respect for anyone or anything. Kids now days don't have to listen to there parents because they know if mom or dad busts there *** that they can have them put in jail. It all comes back to the parenting. CONTROL YOUR KIDS DON'T LET THEM CONTROL YOU. Stop and think back years ago, this stupid and deadly behavior from kids didn't happen.
Why?? Because parents were allowed to be parents. There were no ridiculous laws telling you how to raise your kids. No I'm not saying beat them or that child abuse is ok. But correcting them or busting there *** was fine and expected. Bring back paddling in schools. IT WORKED!!
As far as gun manufacturers they don't send a how or what to kill guide with there guns. But they do send SAFETY information with them. Use this !!! Teach your kids right from wrong.
