No Further Proceedings regarding Penalty Points?

I didnt pay a fixed penalty which would have cost me £120 and 6 points on my license

I admitted to the police at the time I was guilty and everything lol

Today I found out that there would be "No Further Proceedings" regarding this, when I asked why they wouldn't tell me

Does this happen a lot? I'm kind of wary

Wahey!! - why look a gift horse in the mouth?

My guess is that there has been some "procedural" slip up by the police and their case against you has no legal standing; it would be unlikely to lead to a successful prosecution so they have dropped the matter.

It could be anything ranging from
incorrect calibration of the speed gun/camera
lost paperwork (it happens a lot)
illegally sited speed trap

there's loads of reasons
You were lucky

They have a time limit to enforce it. Maybe they were too slack and you expired?
