I'm not sure myself. I can't stand stoners, yet I have read about how legalizing and regulating pot could be good for the economy, but I'm not sure if it will do the general public health any good. I know pot smokers would be for it, and I know a lot of non-smokers are against it, but I can't help but think those who don't smoke it yet support legalization could be the ones to make an impact on the consideration of legalization.

My only concern with it is that driving under the influence of marijuana would dramatically increase and lives would be lost in auto accidents. That alone is reason enough to vote against it.
That being said, I don't think there would be many other major problems- no increase in violence, in fact quite the opposite, no major health concerns- even second hand smoke would be minimal because people would smoke in their own homes, and marijuana is very safe and impossible to overdose from.
Weight gain and lack of ambition are also negative effects it would have on the population. Those who do not smoke now due to the fact that it is illegal may be tempted to try it and become addicted. Then they might smoke their lives away when they would otherwise have been productive members of society. I happen to believe that this is not a major factor because those of us who have chosen not to smoke would continue to do so for other reasons than a legal or illegal status. |

yes it would make it safer for everyone. The state would make money off it instead of spending it on stopping drugs. I think that it make complete scence. Make similar laws to drinking (certain areas and no operating motor vehicles under the influence of it. This would be good. |

Legalizing it would be nothing but a BAD idea! It is not going to do any good and those who want to say "we could use for medical reasons" im sure the medical field can come up with something else to give the same effects. |

I'm not a stoner. But I'd be okay with it if it was legal. I still wouldn't smoke. I mean, cigarettes and alcohol are legal, but I know they're bad for me, which is why I don't partake. Same thing with marijuana. To each his own. |

Long-term marijuana abuse can lead to addiction; that is, compulsive drug seeking and abuse despite its known harmful effects upon social functioning in the context of family, school, work, and recreational activities. Long-term marijuana abusers trying to quit report irritability, sleeplessness, decreased appetite, anxiety, and drug craving, all of which make it difficult to quit.
