During one of President Elect Obama's speeches regarding abortion, I may have his exact wording wrong so I apologize of I do, he stated that he believes that everyone is capable of making mistakes and it would be a shame for that they would have to let that mistake control the rest of their lives and that of one of his daughters were to make a "mistake" and an abortion would solve it then he wouldn't be against abortion. so my question is this, what about felons? I made one mistake when I was 19 and now I have to pay for it for the rest of my life, I am not able to get a decent job to provide for my family(I am employed, thankfully) but shouldn't there be anti-discrimination laws against ex-cons and felons? If someone can take a life and it not prevent them from getting a good job, proper education, and the tools necessary to stop living paycheck to paycheck then why can't someone (excluding child-molesters) that has a minor criminal record or made a horrible judgment call regarding some counterfeit money or a possession of pot have to be judged and persecuted for life over it?

But couldn't motions be put into congress that wou;d push the issue or to I have to rally other's that have the same problems that I do?

Second chances really seem to be a Democratic mantra that I disagree with. Depending on the crime, I can see it but for heinous crimes, no.
If we had more personal responsibility in this country you would see a lot less people screwing other people over (ie Bankruptcy, child molesters, etc...) |
