The other week i was offered by my step dad £3,000 to marry his best friend and stop him having to leave england. Then i was also offered another £2,000 after 3 years of being with him then i could get a divorce if i wanted too. Im 20 years old and he is 34. I live on my own and i dont see my parents alot but I am absolutely outraged and i obviously told him where to shove it. Should i report them to the police?. Should i tell my mother?

If its becomes a threat and not just asking then Id not bother to call the police. You can however let immigration know. I mean £3K isnt a lot. you would have to live with him.

please do not marry him,if you do,first it is wrong, but then you are stuck with him for the next three years,but it might turn out he wont divorce you when the time comes, also what happens if you meet someone you really want to marry, do you think he will want you if he knows what you have done, you must put yourself first, and dont go down this road,it will only cause heartache for you, tell your mum,Im sure she will agree with me,no amount of money is enough,after all you are being asked to give up your personal freedom for this man, if he is so despaerate,get someone else,but he is obviously illegal,so dont touch him with a bargepole |

Even making the offer is a criminal offence. If you do not have a problem with reporting your stepdad, contact the police straight away.
You should also contact the Home Office Borders Agency to report the fact that the friend is attempting to stay in the country by illegal means.
Certainly you should tell your mother. It will make her more fully aware of the person that she has married. Hopefully, this will be the first that she has heard of it: it would be dreadful if she is complicit in what is going on.
And good for you for telling him to shove it. |
