What a bunch of lemmings!
DUI is probably a 2.
In the average DUI incident, no one is hurt, no one is arrested, there is no accident and everyone gets home safe. It is the abberation when the "drunk diver" actually hurts someone.
Everyone here is speaking as though a sober driver is somehow less guilty when he hurts or kills someone!
If you blew the red light, you blew the red light, regardless of your toxicity. The act of blowing the red light is what caused the problem, and it is the act which should be sanctioned.
If someone killed one of my kids by driving like crap, I sure wouldn't want him to catch a break because he was sober when he did it! |

Yessir, a 10. I have been in law enforcement for a long time, and I would arrest any member of my family without hesitation for DUI. I've cleaned the mess up to many times. If you think it's not bad, you've obviously never seen a dead toddler from a DUI related accident |

on a scale of 1-10? is this a serious question... thousands of innocent people die every year because of other people driving under the influence... it's a above 10... it reaches 100... Don't F around when it comes to drunk driving OR buzzed driving... If you're some teenager who thinks its cute to drive buzzed to impress your friends I'm sure they'll be really impressed when they attend your funeral... or when they visit you in prison. |

Its on your record for the rest of your life. Exempts you from some government jobs. People look down on it. |

10, its on your permanent record. Not your high school record, your life record. |

10. By drinking and driving, you are putting so many innocent people at risk. I think DUI people should never be aloud to drive again. |

yes. you put yourself in front of others. why do you think it's against the law? because it's dangerous! also, you will have it on your record and many companies will run a background and you will miss out on jobs because of your record. |

10--yes its that's bad. Its one thing to endanger your own life--quite another to endanger unsuspecting strangers. |

DUI is very serious. On the Screw-Up Scale, I'd rate it a 10.
The punishment is not nearly severe enough. |

Not sure but I got two of them in two weeks time after taking my prescription Xanax and heading out on the road. I haven't been to court yet, but it's definately a costly thing in Oklahoma. I have to pay $150 for a drug and alcohol assessment, $175-$350 for DUI school, and probably wil end up paying court costs, fines, and a license reinstatement fee. |

I think it is a 10 because you knowingly put something in your body causes you to be out of control and then get into a 2500 lbs vehicle where you can take the life of other people. If you had a knife or a gun it would be murder, do it with a car and it is a DUI.
It is a choice to drive and drive. It kills thousands and injures tens of thousands every year. It is bad. |

Every day, thousands of drivers make the irresponsible decision to get behind the wheel drunk, putting themselves, pedestrians, and other drivers and their passengers in danger. Innocent, unsuspecting people too often pay the price for the actions of drunk drivers, as intoxicated drivers can cause accidents that lead to serious — even fatal — injuries.
in conclusion i would rate a DUI as a 10 |

You will say 10 when you are in jail for crashing your car into another car. |

About an 8 if you just get caught and blow .1 or so.
A 9 if you have an accident.
A 10 if you hurt someone.
An 11 if you kill someone.
A 12 if you kill several someones.
And a 25 if any of those someones is a child.
All this is assuming you have any sort of conscience at all.
They won't seat me on a jury for a DUI case or child molestation. As far as I am concerned we could execute DUI offender on their second time through the system. As for the child molesters; if I had my way they would beg to die... |

it should be a felony but since politicians, the wealthy and law makers do it all the time it is a slap on the wrist |

Yup. Give it a 10. You can drink, you can drive, but you can't drink and drive. Thats the law. Drinking and driving can kill you, your passenger, other people. Some people can't handle liquor. You can't decide who can and who can't because it would be too hard to deciding what would be fair. If you want to party, take a cab or pay someone to pick you up and give you a lift home. It's not worth it.
That was easy. |

10, ruins your credit and makes employers look at you twice.
Depends on what kind of jobs you're looking for. If you want to be a cook in a restaurant or someone who mows lawns all your life then it's not so bad. But any kind of job where people have to trust you will be hard to get if you have a DUI.
If you don't have one yet... find someone who can be your designated driver. Call a cab. It's not worth the HUGE expense (in Illinois, the cost of one DUI is estimated at over $10,000). |

10! WTF?! Please tell me you're joking. I think if someone gets a DUI that person should NEVER get his license back! And if he does, he should have to do a breathilizer test to turn the car on. |
