Once again we see a sentence passed down?

A Known thug took the life of a young man and was found guilty of Murder he will serve no less than 14years, that sentence should had read "he will serve life without parole" how many agree with me ? Additional Details DT, I think you are slightly confused all the other respondents realised the case in question this killer was well known to the police and not a child as you imply

I agree with you, wholeheartedly. |

Disagree. The sentence should have read "Death with no chance of appeal". |

I think that he should get the death penalty..why pay the cost of housing him in jail? |

Not sure what you're saying, but that thug deserves to be locked up for life. |

I don't know all about the facts of the case. If it was the young man that threw a plate at someone in the bakery during a fight, I find it hard to believe that he was charged with murder, because of the way the boy died. Surely 9/10 throwing a plate at someone it is not likely to shatter and a shard happen to cut the jugular. I simply mean that murder has to be the intention without doubt and not the result of chance. If someone is stabbed in the heart...there can be little doubt what the intention was. |

I agree totally with you. If that scumbag had taken the life of my child I would not want him to see the light of day again.
His primary school teacher actually said he wasn't surprised that he'd committed murder. i know some kids like that. What kind of person thinks its ok to hand out crappy sentences like that? |

I think it's disgusting that these murders don't get life. I look it as a life for a life. That man's life has been taken and all the murder gets is 14 years. I would be fuming if I knew that man. I'd defiantly have to stand up and say something. These murders get away lightly. That's why so many people murder others. If they were to get life or they got killed then people would think twice and there would be alot lest murders in this world. |

1. Agree with you? Were you the judge?
2. 14 years isn't long enough if the lad was innocent.
3. Where is the source for this or have you made it up? |

A Black guy in Oakland, California murdered 4 cops after a traffic stop because he didn't want to go back to prison, according to his sister, yet he had already violated his parole. Blacks, in support of this slime marched in support of him yesterday and actually said that these murders are "pay back" and the cops "got what they deserved." 14 years is looking pretty good in comparison.
Don't get me wrong, though; I agree with you. I was just pointing out another screwed up idea of justice. |

I agree.. when u kill in cold blood u should get life. 14 years just aint enough.. some people convicted of drug charges get more time then that |

i understand he needs to be punished but the thing is, he is havin it good in jail, he is being loked after, paid for, does he really deserve that? i think there should be a different type of prison for people like that, but then from the otheside, i dont think peple really realise what being in prison is like, and how long 14 years actually is, as it is a very long time, you have to remember, the judge has to go by a rules to |

who are you talking about ? |
|

DT

Not me. The killer is little more than a child himself. When he is first eligible for parole he will be 33. Were you as mature at the age of 19 as you were at 33? Do you have a crystal ball that can predict what sort of man this youth will become? Do you know that over 95% of released lifers do not kill again? That over 70% do not reoffend?
EDIT: Can you read? I said "little more than a child". He is 19, as stated above The offence was in May last year, when he was probably 18. He will commence his sentence in a Young Offenders Institution. Having spent nearly 25 years in the criminal justice system, I remain in no doubt, based upon decades of fully reserached evidence, that the sentencing policies for young offenders need to differ radically from those deemed suitable for adults, but hey - I'm only invited to address Government conferences and lecture judges, so what do I know about offenders?
EDIT 2: Black Sheep: If you intend by your actions to cause serious injury (England), or are reckless as to the consequences of your actions (Scotland), and a person dies as a result of your criminal act, that is murder. |
