Ok today I asked my friends of they support a gay persons right to marry or if they are against it and only 1 out of 10 supported them. So I was wondering, why do so many people oppose gay marriage? I just want to hear your thoughts.
By the way I dont think it should matter if gay marriage is against christian law when it is approached in congress to declare if it islegal or not, because wouldnt that contradict the concept of separation of church and state?

Iscole48 your answer is by far the most offensive, are you really implying that gay people dont deserve healthcare, insurance, and an influence on society? Thats like saying that healthcare would be so much cheaper if we only gave it to people taller then 5'9". Your basically saying gay people arent real people.

I'm actually for it. I have no doubt that they love each other and should be able to express it through marriage the same way hetero couples do. No one is going to force churches to accept gay marriage and not everyone gets married in a church to start with. |

I think the majority is still against it. I'm not, I don't have a problem with it. If consenting adults want to get married it's their choice and I don't think it's right they should be prevneted.
Marriage is a legal thing, not religious. |

Marriage should not really be the business of government anyway. I don't see why the legal ramifications of marriage should not be available to gay people as they are for straight people. Laws governing marriage are often flawed. Why shouldn't gay people have the pleasure of going through a messy divorce like everyone else? |

Should be legal. It's been legal for a few years now in Massachusetts and I don't think it's much of an issue here anymore except to a small number of religious zealots.. People have moved on. Life just goes on like before. |

Most people don't support gay marriage. It's a media myth. Members of congress are voted in by the people to speak FOR THEM, so if the people don't want gay marriage, their congressperson is supposed to convey that. So, you see, it does matter. That's the whole idea! |
