The Patriot act came in just after 9/11, it had been prepared beforehand, just waiting for an excuse to be enacted
.
There is a startling similarity between it, and Hitler's Enabling Act, which was brought in just after Nazi Germany's 9/11, the Reichstag fire, it gave the government, particularly the leader, the same sort of powers as the Patriot Act.
And yes it could turn the US into a police state, that is what it is for, nobody of any political persuasion, if they understood it could say differently. But we are supposed to believe it would be a "good police state" not a bad one. |
