People against gay marriage and/or abortion?

I need to use my words carefully this time, so people don't think I'm stereotyping everyone and oblivious.
If you are against gay marriage and/or abortion, why?
Enlighten me. I would really like to know.
I think that people shouldn't use abortion as an excuse not to wear condoms, but if a girl gets raped she should have the right to get an abortion.
Concerning gay marriage, I think that even if a person doesn't agree with it, they shouldn't have to get married that way, but they can't go around telling strangers what to do.
That's like a vegetarian forcing random strangers to not eat meat, or a Catholic trying to force everyone around them to become Catholic.
What do you think?
I think these things should not concern the government and that people can choose to do what they like.

Here's a thought for you: What if the girl who gets raped is young and not mature enough to carry a baby? Say, 10 or 12 years old? Does that change things?

I'm a little annoyed that some people responded that even if a woman is raped she shouldn't have the option of an abortion.....I guess they don't understand that a rape victim goes through a lot of deep, psychological trauma and for SOME women to have to go through the 9month on top of being raped would be a horrific experience~and could further damage them psychologically(I emphasized the 'some' because obviously not all women feel this way and in some instances abortion can be emotionally scarring too~it just depends on the person). Some women could do that, but personally I couldn't...being reminded of the awful ordeal everyday by seeing my body change and then having to actually give birth isn't a picnic, especially since I would be in this situation against my will. And honestly if I was placed in that situation and was not allowed to have an abortion, I would probably do physical harm to myself because I couldn't imagine having to experience an unwilled birth on top of already being violated and taken away my rights . A life is a life (so I don't condone abortion as a contraceptive measure) but a woman is a human being too and you have to consider her psychological and physical health first before an unborn baby's. And it scares me sometimes how some people value the life of something that can't survive on its own over someone who has been alive for some time now. The sickeningly, funny thing is I watched a teen pregnancy special on TV today, and there was a story of one girl and what she did to the baby she didn't want and I'm really afraid to imagine what some women will do to get rid of the unwanted babies if abortion becomes illegal, instead of having it professionally done to avoid self harm

As for the gay marriage right, I guess I don't really care about it. And for people who say that tradition shouldn't be ruined, well we don't follow a lot of traditions anymore. People in the past have used 'tradition' as a defense for a lot of horrible practices that took away rights from many groups of people, so sometimes it is best to discard them. And anyway, divorce already ruins the sanctity of marriage but not many would agree to abolish it. If churches deny to perform ceremonies for gay people then that's their right too. However, if gay people want to have their own church-free weddings/find an accepting church, and get a marriage license, then I don't see why anyone should interfere(because in my opinion the only marriage laws there should be are set legal age and required consent of both parties....the rest is the couple's personal business).

I'm not against gay marriage but I am definitely against abortion. The thing about getting raped, I want to say in that case yes, but I really don't think so. The baby is still part of you and it is not the babies fault for what a man did. At least just give it up for adoption. I see abortion as murder. And the murder of a child is worst in my eyes.
(Remember, Adoption not Abortion.)

Gays should be allowed to get married. But I don't think that they should be married under God if the priest doesn't want to because it is a law of God (, if the person is religious.) and I wouldn't go against him for any law on Earth.

I'm indifferent to the whole abortion debate.

As for gay marriage though, I'm against it. Marriage is and has always been defined as being between a man and a woman. It is rooted in tradition and religion. To allow gay people to "marry" is to make a mockery of it. If gay people really want to get married that bad, then come up with a different term. The only reason they want gay marriage is so they can stuff it down our throats and make us watch their public displays of gay affection.

The truth of the matter is no matter how you can try and wrap it abortion is morally wrong, there are instances like you said where a a young child could be harmed if they have the child as they are not physically capable, however what is worse the physical discomfort initially or the emotional trauma that follows? With gay marriage, this is like an urge that has not been sanctioned against and as a result it is acted upon. Why marry someone under God when he does not approve of this?perhaps they can consider doing it under a specific legal route but no mention of God in it?In God we trust my ***,Dont disrespect God,If me and someones wife were to want to get married because we were in "love" that doesnt make bigamy right does it?but this biblically based.

Now I have no problem with abortion

but it's only when the woman is in the later stages of her pregnancy that I have sort of a problem
The way they go about it is barbaric
and to have let the baby develop all that time only to abort it
(but I understand that if the baby is endangering the mothers life, and would die anyways, that's an entirely different situation

As for Gay Marriage
I'm all for it 2000%!!!
Everyone deserves the same marital rights

I think that gay marriage should be allowed, and that abortion should also be allowed. Marriage is for love, not appearance, &love doesn't discriminate. Abortion; it's a woman's body.
Also, gay marriage can be a good thing because when people are gay, they can't make a baby with their s.o., so they'll most likely adopt, saving a baby that WASN'T aborted's life.

Oh yeah, search in the dictionary, and it will probably tell you what marriage means. "Between a man and a woman."
Okay, now search the dictionary, and find what the word "love" means. Or what "life" means. So, uhm. Are you gonna let the dictionary define what you believe in?

I agree with much of what you say. Govt should not be involved in marriage, but it already is. Married couples receive tax breaks. Until equality means everyone, our govt does not treat people as equals.

I am against abortion and here is why. It is used predominately as and after the fact method of birth control because one of two people are too stupid or lazy to protect themselves, so let's just kill the problem. What happened to responsibility for your actions?

Gay marriage? I don't particularly care one way or another but if it comes to a vote, I will and have, voted against it. Why? I don't agree with the life style. I am not going to support something I don't agree with. Does anyone?

ugh question asked too many times.

short answer:

okay, first gay marriage. well, let's look up marriage in the dictionary:
the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.

well tradition is tradition. marriage is simply: man+woman

okay, now abortion. let me put it this way. killing innocent babies=bad.

well, have a nice day. oh and before you ask a question that's been asked and re asked and asked again, try using the search feature.

These questions are real great!! Everyone has their own opinion on them, but I don't think there is any right answer that can enlighten you on these two. People are people and no one's perfect.

bozhya_karovka
i agree with you on both. however, i can see why people would be against abortion. some people, because of their religion or other reasons, believe a fetus is a person, and that person should not be killed no matter what. even in cases of rape. as far as the gay marriage, it's basically all about religion. some people think that god will punish our country if we allow gays to marry or "condone" it. and they apparently forget that there is supposed to be a separation of church and state and that all people should have equal protection of the laws.
