Personal injury claim against hospital seems impossible what else can be done ?

The evidence is blatantly clear , for more than a year the surgical incision made to fix a broken bone using metalwork refused to heal .
The patient complained daily of infection , the hospital refused to investigate , 3 months passed and the wound burst with thick yellow stinking puss (worst infection a 55 year old nurse had ever seen) .
Emergency treatment followed in text book fashion , except the wound itself was ignored instead the area to which the infection had spread was surgically removed . Inevitably the infection continued to spread until after more than a year of incompetence the patient removed himself from the hospitals care (at this time medical records state the patient is fine) and travelled overseas (Britain to Britain) a few hundred miles .
Immeidiately on entry to the Accident & Emergency unit of another hospital it was recognised by the least qualified surgeon available that Emergency specialist surgery gave only a slim chance of avoiding amputation of the entire limb .
The surgery removed the infection but it was to late to avoid permanent disability and amputation remains probable .
I'm told the case cannot succeed without a medical proffesionals help , but because the infection itself is very common and very hard to treat , surgeons do not want to be involved for fear of opening the litigation flood gates .
That is not my intention i want to do whatever i can to stop these B@STARDS doing it to someone else , i am not the first and definately won't be the last to suffer in this way , the hospital in question is renowned for its failures and i personally know perhaps a hundred people who have suffered for no reason .
I would rather see the surgeon in jail than take money but if money hurts them then i would settle for that instead .
There has to be a way to force this Godforsaken hospital and Government to just listen to the people who's lives they ruin ?

With respect, this is total b*ll*cks.
Clincial negligence claims are very common and there are an array of medico-legal experts to assist with bringing the claim.
However a limited number of solicitors are qualified to bring C.N. cases, and before you proceed you must have them involved.
These cases turn on medico-legal expertise.
