why 5 years in prison for that, such a stupid rule and such a stupid anthem. USA was made off the blood of Natives and the Backs of Africans, the Gov't broke every law known to man to establish this country and they break every law to keep it that way, why worship them and call them leaders. I was forced to sing that crappy song when i was in elementary school, dont let them brainwash you people or you'll end up like the person who asked this ridiculous question, a life-less zombie to the NWO. |

gentleman, do you know the fact that song written by Tagore was actually intended to EULOGIZE BRITISH EMPEROR? WHO WAS THAT "ADHI NAYAKA".? he was nothing but British emperor.VANDE MATARAM should have been adopted as the national anthem. in the present national anthem there was no reference for so many south indian states. |

Hey, how about instead of being so concerned over flags and anthems and symbols of our nation, why not be concerned about a government that ritually chips away at the rights guaranteed to us in the Constitution? The freedom and the power come from that document, not from flags or anthems. So when all your rights have been stripped away and all you can do is sit on your porch and sing your dumb song and wave your dumb flag, remember that. |

dude, the punishment should be given to those persons who mortgage the interests of nation to foreign powers. |

We should not be over sensitive to these issues, raising which we look apparantly highly patriotic.
I am an ardent follower of a very high spiritual person, and I have a shawl given to me for wearing, over my usual wears, during the chantings and other congregations. Like me others who are also such devotees, use this shawl for covering or even spreading it as a bed sheet while sleeping.
Tell me, where respects and reverence of such high levels are practiced and there is no exception taken, how on earth does an issue of pseudo patriotism appeal to us so much that we start considering imprisonments on these?
Let us cool down and think, that we are not the only patriotic people, or morally superior people of India. |

That's a dumb law. I'm anti-nationalism and if that was a law I would be spending the rest of my life in prison. Civil religion is over-rated, start thinking for yourself instead of priding stupid things in your country, such as your national Anthem. |

That would violate our first amendment right to free speech. You can and should be allowed to say whatever you'd like, as long as doing so doesn't harm others (in the sense of shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater). Just because other people don't like what you say has no bearing on your right to say it. |

see, everyone should respect his nation from the deeper consious of his heart. That's why , he should understand the value of the characteristics (like.. national flag , Anthem, etc) of his nation and also should respect other nation as well. If you will respect others, then only respect comes to you. For that there should be love and peace everywhere. There should not be any hate in person's heart. We can not make others love by threat of the prision. But , it willcome from the bottom level of the heart. |

What a ridiculous thing to be fighting about! There are more pressing concerns in this country that should be addressed before mundane traditions. |

That's an incredibly bad idea. We are not North Korea or Nazi Germany, where such things might have or do happen. |

Pretty lame, in my opinion. |

Showing disrespect to national anthem is really an unpatriotic act and should be suitably punished, if proved before the Law. |

We are so unpatriotic that we might send such a person to the Parliament as an MP. |

Sounds pretty totalitarian, don't you think?
Francis Scott Key jotted down some words that were later sung to the tune of a popular song and now somebody wants to make an idol out of it?
Get real.
God forbids that we should worship the works of man's hand. |
