My bike was recently stolen!
Here's a little background to emphasis how important my bike is:
I'm 15, I'm a freshmen, and my bike is the only transportation I have (besides my mom's car, but she never lets me drive it) I work two part time jobs to help out with the bills and expenses in my house and to use on my personal expenses. I go everywhere on my bike. School, band practice, groceries, etc. Anyways, I'm always on a tight schedule and this really messes me up.
Anyways, I had locked up bike to my balcony's metal bars (I live on the first floor of a condo) which are about two inches in wide and about four feet tall, its hollow. Well, according to my mom (I was at an after school rehearsal, I took the bus that morning because I was really tired that morning), the thief had kicked in the bars of my balcony and hauled *** on my bike. My mom, called the police and they said that they'd send some investigators. Personally, I don't think they'd come because they have better things to do than chase after bikes.
Is it possible to sue the condo, or whoever, for the bars of the balcony? Because, I don't think that the bars are up to code if somebody can kick it down. And it's kicked down because I can see the huge dent in the bar.
A little side note, this is my fourth bike. I have really bad luck with this stuff.

1. You are under 18. You can not file a lawsuit on your own.
2. Even if you could, the bars of your balcony are not designed to protect your bicycle, they are designed to keep you from falling off the balcony.
3. They could sue you (actually your mom) for the damage done to the bars of the balcony. |
