Prince William Sound and now the Gulf of Mexico...what more do we need to learn about oil?

I think the thing that you guys are missing, is that BP didn't employ safety shutoff valves in enough places to safely drill. They should be held accountable for their neglect of government rules and regulations. And lets not forget their total lack of respect to nature. The ocean life is much more important to the worlds ecosystem then some of you seem to think. If one were to actually read something on the ecosystem, you would realize this thing is a big problem. We should all be concerned, and the companies need to answer for their actions.
Further more, where in this question does it say anything about finding a different alternative to oil? Albeit, I do think we need to find new sources, but that is irrelevant to the topic at hand. And may I point out that dumping more chemicals into the ecosystem is not the answer. The companies choose to opt for this chemical "fix", even though there are safer and cleaner ways to clean it up. Ask yourself when and where we, as a world, should stand up and say that companies like BP have gone too far. They don't give a damn about anything except the all mighty buck, and we have to deal with their mess ups? I don't think so. I say governments force a freeze on oil prices and force those big wigs with deep pockets to actually pay for their blatant disregard to the rules and life on this planet.

So you are taking an OIL TANKER and an OFFSHORE DRILLING accident. So only oil we should have should be from our own land, if that. Well when you want to tell us what we do to fuel cars then I'll listen. You realize that not all the oil in the U.S. is even used for motor fuel? We won't even talk about how there are different uses for oil. I want to know how you plan fueling a car first. Do you say let's all drive electric cars starting tomorrow? OK guess we need electric buses, and what about trains and Semis? I guess with the oil in this country we could use it all for jet fuel and just raise the prices of air fare for those that would dare still use something that needs oil. Yep everything will be electric. Sorry but we aren't to the point that we can switch everything over.
