Pro-Choice and Pro-Life?
|
Someone posted a question earlier stating that conservatives were hypocritical b/c they were Pro-Life but Pro-War. Well, I've always thought it was hypocritical for liberals to fight harder for the rights of animals but not really care what happens to unborn babies. Sounds twisted to me. Now, I'm not saying this is every liberal - I understand everyone has different views. I just really wanted to know your thoughts on this, and I'm really not trying to get people all angry. Additional Details Sorry if I didnt' make my question clearer. I'm talking about animal rights vs unborn rights.

I am pro life, Pro War, Pro Gun, and Pro Hunting.
I feel that life begins at conception. You can not rid the world of evil without war, It was with individuals having guns that allowed us (the USA) to defeat a world power and gain Independence. And without hunting the wildlife population would swell to the point of over grazing and starve. |

I am pro choice and pro life. I think every woman should have the right to choose whether or not to become pregnant. I wouldn't completely outlaw abortion, but it should not be used as birth control. I am also against war. |

Humans can treat animals any way that they think is valid.
Humans must treat other humans with moral respect.
However, the pro-choice issue is really "what constitutes a human life". And pre-viability that boils down to a religious question, not a scientific one. Hence, the either the law must allow each person to make that determination for themself, or impose a single religious viewpoint on everyone as a matter of law. |

I am a liberal and mostly pro-life. I qualify that because I believe there are exceptions to every rule (rape, incest, life of mother). I am also pro-animal rights, in most cases, and anti-war, except for defense.
Life is life. I think that's what you're asking.
When will people stop equating stem cell research with abortion? What researchers have been trying to do for years is get embryos from fertility clinics that would otherwise be discarded. That's right, I said embryos discarded, as in thrown in the trash.
I do, however, tend to vote pro-choice. The pro-life groups tend to push their agenda with NO exceptions, and I feel there should be exceptions. As an example of why I vote pro-choice, see below. |

You know..your question just can't be answered because people..all people when they have a chance to think about it..think differently. I would say..they best you can do is to believe what you chose to believe..strongly..and to recognize there are people who believe differently just as strongly as you do. Live YOUR life according to your belief..allow others to do the same. That's about it. |

me too lol i don't think its that hypocrital...i consider myself a conservative and i'm pro-life and pro-war, but i'm also a vegetarian cause i'm for animal rights. A lot of conservatives are pro-war not because they are pro-death, but because they believe in the principles and the end reason behind it. |

I definatley agree! War and abortion are totally different issues and it's not fair to compare the two. I don't think that, at this point in time, abortion should be outlawed (although late-term abortion should be--it's just cruel), but I do believe that women have the right to be informed enough to make an informed choice, knowing all their options. People also need to respect our environment and not be wasteful or foolish, but not at the expense of human life. |

It sounds like you are saying that hypocrisy is okay if you can find someone in the opposition group that you can claim is equally hypocritical.
If that's what you are claiming, what's your question?
There is no such thing as an "unborn baby," all babies are born. Until a baby is born, it is a fetus. And animal rights are irrelevant to that fact. |

In some religions, a fetus is not a human being until it is born. I'm sure this was done to protect parents from a little tiny bit of the crushing horror of having a wanted child stillborn. I've been through a miscarriage, and know how dreadful it is. I also have kids now, and really do see a difference. If one of the kids were to die now, it would be a thousand times worse.
I have no science to support any side of the question "when is the life of the baby separate from the life of the mother". If the baby could survive outside the mother, that's one thing, but when we're talking about a collection of 8 cells, that just doesn't meet my personal definition of "human life". I honestly believe that this is such a personal issue that the government should keep out of it.
I believe that the people most hurt by abortion laws are kids - either the ones having babies, or the kids born to parents who didn't really want them. That said, I don't think that I could have an abortion. As I said, it's a personal decision. I worry that if safe legal abortion is no longer available, women will wait longer to have an illegal (dangerous) abortion.
Just FYI: I am a liberal and support programs to help kids, adults, animals, trees, and all, but my biggies are kids and anyone who is hungry. I agree that people are more important than animals, but think that we need to take much better care of everything on our planet.
My test for hypocrisy is people who decry abortion but have never adopted kids.
Sorry - I had to jump back in... Someone up there said that "pro choice should end when she leaves the bedroom". Fortunately, when someone dragged me into an alley and raped me, I did not get pregnant, but I have to admit that if I had gotten pregnant, it might have really been comforting to know that I would not be legally required to carry a baby to term at 14. I beg you to reconsider your viewpoint there. And BTW: I was dressed modestly, in a "safe" area in the middle of the day on a Saturday, so please don't start that one.
I hope I've been able to give you a thoughtful answer. |

issue a child bearing liscense. any unliscensed children get aborted and used for stem cell research. (providing the home doesnt meet certain standards) im against usless wars like the ones we have today. WW2 was a real war. people had a reason to fight and die. today its about who's leader has bigger balls.
pro-choice, and if its for a good reason pro war |

Well it has to do with the eternal question of when does life really begin. No Liberal I know argues that animals have the right not to be spayed/neuteured because it's their reproductive system. They might if animals could communicate their wishes to us. However, women can communicate and do want control over their reproductive system. And there has yet to be consesus on when life begins. There can't be hyprocrisy if Liberals don't agree that the life has begun. |

You may think I'm a hypocrite b/c I'm pro-life when it comes to pregnancy but I'm also pro-war when it comes to the war in Iraq b/c they started it when they came to our countries and killed innocent people in the twin towers so if you think that I am a hypocrite so be it. |

Pro-Life however, I'm for a war that is going to actually accomplish something. |
