Pro-choice people? can someone explain this?

hmm... just something I've always wondered, if you don't see anything wrong with abortion, then why do a lot of you say that it should be rare?

Herb- ergh. I'm actually an EXTREMELY open minded person, but that is NOT the issue here. The woman is KILLING something when she has an abortion, it isn't about her or her body, it's about the baby!

I agrees with slykitty62, herb and mduglass156.

I woont kill no one, but it's up to an individual to decided if they wants to kill someone or not. Govenment shud keeps its nose outta this stuff. People got rights to privacy. Sometimes that takes killin.

Wicked's wrong tho. The blob of tissue stuff from Planned Parinthood ain't true. http:www.abortionno.org to see proof.

most pro choice people i know see abortion as wrong.

maybe that is difficult to understand but abortion is not something women run out to get.

JC
...because it shouldnt be used as a form of birth control.

Because it's not that we don't see anything wrong with abortion, it's a difficult decision for a woman to make and it would be nice if she was never in that position in the first place. However, we don't live in a perfect world and sometimes women are in a difficult position and I think they should have a choice.

Any invasive medical procedure should not be preformed often.

Herb
The problem with pro-life people is that they are too narrow minded to get the fact that the issue really isn't about abortion, it's about who has control of their own bodies, you or the Government.

And women don't get pregnant, go to the drive-thru abortion clinic on the way to work, get it done and go on their merry little way. It doesn't work like that.

ahill_hokie
It's funny, too, that many "pro-choice" friends of mine also think that interrogation techniques (like water-boarding) are cruel, yet they are perfectly okay with someone killing a baby. Absurd!

Oh, and those of you that are saying they don't want the government to interfere, newsflash....what do you think that Obama's new health care plan will do?

Because believing something should be legal is not the same as believing it's a good thing. I personally wish no woman in the world would ever feel the need to choose to have an abortion, but until we live in that ideal world (i.e., never), I also believe the government has no business dictating to that woman what choice she must make for her own body and her own future. Women must be allowed to make the choice for themselves based on their own moral/religious beliefs and their own financial, personal and medical situation. But that doesn't mean we can't have an opinion about what choice they make, and can't encourage and assist them to make a choice other than abortion.

Pro-choice doesn't mean you find nothing wrong with abortion. In fact, a person who is pro-choice could personally think abortion is awful. The difference is that someone who is pro-choice feels that they can't make the choice for someone else wher they should be able to have an abortion or not.

There is no black and white way to look at abortion because there really is no black and white definition as to when life begins. Many people believe that abortion should only be for those who are victims of rape or incest, while others believe that there should be no abortion past the first trimester period, while others believe that abortion should be available up to the first trimester and if there is a severe danger to the mother's health or life the ability for abortion past the first trimester. So it is hard to say one opinion fits everyone who is pro-choice or everyone who is pro-life.

It should not be used as a method of birth control. I do think women should be the one to make the choice of an abortion. For me an abortion would be a no no but I will not take that choice away from other women who need to make that decision.*

PJ
People should be responsible, they should use birth control, but they don't always. Birth control shouldn't fail, but it does. Women should be healthy when they are pregnant - but they aren't always. Babies should form perfectly, but they don't always.

In a perfect world there would be no abortions needed. We don't live in a perfect world.

We do not see nothing wrong with abortion. That is your choice of argumentative wording.
I think abortion should be used only in rare instances but it definitely has a place in our society.
When a woman is raped, abused, a victim of incest, where pregnancy would endanger her health or life, when teen aged girls ( who, like teen aged boys are not know for good judgement) would see their lives disrupted or ruined by unwanted pregnancy, then abortion should be available to them.
It should not be allowed, and certainly not paid for by taxpayers, in the case of just plain irresponsible people who can't be bothered by using contraceptives.
Your question is phrased in absolutes when the subject is not one which lends itself to absolutes.

mccoyms343
same reason it ok to kill a baby, but not ok to kill a felon who murdered people

Mutt
I'm pro-choice, but I've never said there is nothing wrong with abortions. I don't like the idea of abortions as a form of birth control, but I also don't think I should tell someone that they have to carry a child full term and have it do all the changes it does to a woman's body. She can choice this for herself, and no one else.

Abortion is not a simple "oh, I'm pregnant - I'll get an abortion during my lunch hour" thing. Most women are very affected by it, and it is not an easy decision for them to make. The ones that do think that it is an easy thing to do are screwed up in the head, and I would not want them raising any children.

Personally, i would not want any woman that got pregnant with my child to have an abortion, but I don't think it is my place to demand she does not.

I am pro-choice and never said that there is nothing wrong with abortion. That's crazy. We all know that abortion isn't just going to the doctor and getting a shot. BUT, I still feel and believe that it is a woman's choice. You don't know what someone is going through that would force them to choose the option of abortion. Every woman that gets an abortion isn't because she didn't want to get pregnant and using abortion as a birth control. I don't think I would ever get an abortion for myself. But then again, I've never been in a situation where I felt I needed it. But I would want the choice to be mine if I was ever put in that situation.
Why is it that people feel that they should push their morals on others? I feel it is between a woman and her God.
And to answer the final part of your question, why wouldn't we want to reduce the amount of abortions happening? Alot of pro-choice people don't want to see/hear about millions of abortions happening that could have been prevented. Come on now, lets be realistic and ask a real question.

It isn't a choice I would ever make for myself. But abortion is a personal choice for women. The gov't should keep their noses out of it.

I think the majority of folks on both sides of the political parties agree that abortion should be used in cases such as rape, medical need, and low income 'accidents' where the child couldn't be supported.
I believe that most agree that it shouldn't be used as a form of birth control, meaning both parties could have a should have used one of the multitudes of protection available but didn't with the idea that they could use abortion as a 'safety net' in a worst case scenario. I think that if there were a situation of birth control failure, abortion could also be used as a last case decision. It's all about the needs of the child. If both parties are able to support a child they should have to go through with the pregnancy. It's a tough issue, that's for sure.

I do not think that it is "wrong" in certain situations. It is a hard thing to go through and not an easy choice to make, but I believe that people should have a choice. I don't believe that it should be a common option/cure for an irresponsible action.

It all goes back to the individual. They know what best for their body.Let the woman deal with her conscious and god.The religious right always talks about keeping government out of their business, well, that what the pro-choice women want too.Let her decide whats best for her body.not some group dictating what best for her.
