Proper attire to wear to court?

I am going to go to court today to fight a ticket i received in the summer, and am now dressed in a black business suit with gray shirt and pink tie... is this too much? thanks

No, it sounds appropriate and more respectful than most people today. It will also create a perception that you're more of a person with equal stature, rather than some lower, sloppy character.

no its best to dress to impress my friend,, some judges take it as an insuklt if you dont make the effort for their court and they can increase the fine or penalty points if they desire,,
good luck with your hearing

That's fine but you could also get away with jeans and a shirt. Traffic court is informal so the judges don't care what you wear.

No, dressing well shows respect for the judge and the system of justice. It is logically to fear looking financially stable or well-to-do, but I think it's always safest to make a positive impression with judges who probably take them selves very seriously.

Your choice sounds fine. Just dress as if you were going to a job interview, etc. Neat and conservative. Good luck on your fight with city hall.

Ditch the pink tie. You may be in court already. Never wear loud colors in these situations, always dress more conservatively. I would wear a white shirt and darker tie.

Sounds good, except I'd change the tie. You could wear a "power tie," which promotes confidence. Is the pink tie solid or patterned with other colors? Black suit - gray shirt - patterned tie with black, white, red or gray, black, blue, etc. Good luck!

nah, that's good. Careful picking the tie though. You must look like you're an outstanding, all-business citizen.

Dare! Walk into the courtroom wearing a clown's red nose.

You'll do fine.

I wouldn't thinks so, I dress in business attire when I am handling very important business. Your overall appearance tells alot....Maybe not the pink tie

Nope...it's easier to get respect when dressed up. The judge will appreciate it.

I may rethink the pink tie and go with something a litter more subdued but other than that you'll be fine. Good Luck with the ticket!

Casual business is fine, a suit really isn't necessary.
Yes, it IS too much !

Well, I attend many court proceedings with the attorneys here at our firm, and I am constantly amazed what people will wear to court! They come in cut-off shorts & shirts; flip-flops; stained & dirty clothes; baseball caps, etc. Any judge would be appreciate anyone who displays respect with appropriate dress. If you normally wear a suit and tie; wear a suit and tie. Business casual is also appropriate. Good Luck on that ticket!
