Do you think if i just downloaded a couple of songs illegally that i would get caught? I was just wondering, because I usually use iTunes, and i usually pay... but i have no money, so i was just seeing what people thought.

No, you almost certainly won't get caught.
And in response to the answer above, there is a big, obvious difference between illegally downloading music and stealing. If you take something from a supermarket, the supermarket no longer has it. That's why it is harmful. If you download a song, no one has lost that song. You could argue that the artists have lost the hypothetical profit from selling you the song, but if you have no money then that profit couldn't possibly exist. So who is actually harmed when someone who can't afford to buy music, downloads it illegally? That's what you should use as your guideline: not whether some music industry propadanda calls it 'stealing', but whether anyone is harmed by your actions. |

Not at all. People steal thousands of dollars in music without getting caught. What not to do is ask a question about it on Yahoo, that's linked to your e-mail address with which they can use to find your IP, which can be used to contact your internet provider, telling them you've done it. |

Probably not, people do it all the time. But I suppose there is a small chance, they have tried making examples of some people (mostly for uploading though I think), or they might do something in the future. So no you'll probably be safe, but it's up to you whether that's a good enough reason to do it or not. |
