You all say that you will stop smoking and still go out - well that is not true, here in Scotland lots of the pubs/clubs etc are closing down because most people are staying in, so I guarantee that 6 months or so after the ban in England the same will happen. There is lots of us in the South of Scotland that actually spend the weekends over the border in Carlisle. |

I just want to know what the next ban will be. I don't like your cologne so don't wear it anymore. I think if your vehicle is over 5 years old it shouldn't be allowed in the parking lot. You're already too fat so we can't serve you the food you want and dessert is definately out of the question. These examples may be a lttle strong/exaggeratred but who knows. The point is where does it stop and who's making all the decisions for me? |

should be alright - i go to ireland often and i've had great fun since the ban - basically you start speaking to people you wouldn't usually - smoking become like an instant ice breaker and you do end up smoking less |

I guess I'll spend a lot of time hanging around the front door of pubs! I'm certainly not going to stop going out because of it. |

You nearly caught me out then because I was going to become one of those sanctimonious people who say "stop smoking then". But actually I quit 4 weeks ago and I'm so proud of myself that I just keep telling EVERYONE!!!
Yipeee!!! |

its not actually that bad, I have been living in Ireland for a while now and since the smoking ban all the fun happens outside. Non smokers even come out to join in. Pubs etc without an ouside area have suffered in Ireland.
In the summer you tell the none smokers to f off back inside, as it was good enough for them in the winter. |

Very interesting report from Honolulu. Someone on Answers has already pointed out that there is now more litter of dog-ends around doorways of hospitals and other non-smoking workplaces. Why didn't our UK politicians do enough research to come up a limit on smoking near doorways and bus-stops?! And why are smokers so mucky anyway, dropping their litter everywhere, leaving someone else to sweep up? They pollute the air AND the ground!
Most smokers seem to prefer cleaner air themselves. And a lot of non-smokers say they'll go out to pubs more when the ban on smoking in them comes in. We don't go much at the moment, because we simply don't want to come out smelling like a smoker. |

I am not sure what smoking ban you are asking about or where, but the City and County of Honolulu has had a ban in effect since November that prohibits smoking in all bars and restaurants; all outside common areas (i. e. courtyards); from within twenty feet of doorways, windows, and ventilation systems to buildings; within twenty feet of bus stops; and at all health care facilities. Basically, I go stand out in the parking lot when I go to any of the shopping centers or malls, I stand on the public sidewalk in front of the hospital where I work during my break, and keep a close eye out for the bus while I wait twenty feet away from the stop. Needless to say, I smoke less when I am out, but I have really started to chain smoke when I am at home. |
