When the new smoking laws come into force on July 1st 2007 i.e you won't be able to smoke inside Public houses,bar's,club's,Night-club's,restara... it also be ilegal/an offence to light up and smoke outside of these places i.e in seated area's and around tables?I presume that this smoking ban will also apply to Cinema's,Theatres,arena's,inside football stadium's,etc etc does it also apply to police building's/station's?and what about shop's i.e will it be ilegal for a customer to light up or be smoking whilst in a shop premises weather they purchase item's or not?from July 1st of this year onward's?

Roll on the smoking ban in pubs, will be able to going in and have meal and a pint without having to breath that $h1t in, smokers pay for the right to dig their own graves with golden shovel, not to muck up my lungs. |

Nowhere the public can go, outside should be fine but even in tobbacconists there is to be no smoking! |

Yes. No smoking in any building to which the public have access, and no smoking rooms allowed in the work place. |

Sadly yes. Its been here for a few years now and you get used to being the new lepers. If only Ireland had the climate for outdoor smoking. |

Coming from Scotland we have had the rule here for a while,
I am a smoker and can see why non smokers would be happy with the rule in restaurants, but what the high and mighty don`t seem to realise is that it is peoples livelyhood that they are deciding on. Are we so stupid that we can`t choose whether we go to a smoking establishment or to a non smoking establishment Cafe Bar Restaurant ? I have friends who came here from Russia years ago to get away from dictatorships and now they are thinking of going back where they say " We can decide what we do and when we do it "

not sure exactly where you are talking about. as a general rule, it is inside any publicly accessible building, and withing 25ft of any entrance. some places have been adding outdoor smoking patios, usually with heating lamps, that are usually in the rear.
i am a smoker, and i do agree with the laws, in general. sure it is inconvenient, but as long as there is no attack on private areas, i see it as fair. |

what a welcome thing....just because a person enjoys killing themselves, smelling like a gross ashtray, poluting the air, setting bad examples and causing allergy and asthma problems.............They shouldn't be allowed to put all that on me and my family! My not smoking doesn't hurt them. I do agree with the answer ealier though....If you can't smoke it, then they shouldn't sell it. Or they can have smokers bars and non smokers bars, ect. |

I do believe that you wont be able to smoke in any public place.....so yes this does include shops etc. This rule has been a long time coming, and very welcome in my book |

Also, if you are a builder, painter, van driver etc, you can't smoke in a vehicle as well! |

basically, if it allows the public in, then its NO smoking. i run a community centre..and opur bingo ladies are going ballistic..
so far there is ONE way around the legistlation. become a private members club, this mean everyone inside,must be a signed in member..no one is allowed to just walk in.. and you have to make the place spotless and smokeless for the next user group.
our bingo players leave the extractors on all night... and they buy proper smoke smellies... (sanitol) |
