Reason to support the death penalty?

I have a hard time condeming anyone to death. But I have a harder time supporting them for the rest of their life with US tax dollars.

It cost about $22,000 per year to house, feed, and clothe each inmate. And it's not like they are contributing to these tax funds either.

So if it is a matter of supporting them, or punishing them for their crimes with death. Then I have to choose death.

ALSO - as the family member of a victim of murder I would feel justified if his murderer were put to death. Instead he served only a few months (he was a juvenile) and now is out and about. Don't you feel safe now!

Recidivism. Prison overcrowding. Financial burdens of caring for and feeding criminals on death row. Psychological "benefits" of punishment for victims, victims families, future criminals.

Rammohan
The chance that he may take another life later. He might be sometimes apolegetic for the crime but cases like the latest Afzal guru he is not apolegetic or not interested to change his political opinion even at this stage.

Death penalty is correct, but go through the legal procedures.

Walk death row, or check out the heinious crimes these people commit. Not everyone who is convicted of homicide is sentenced to death, but the ones who are definately deserve it. I have been involved in investigations which ended in the death sentence being handed to the monsters who commit the crimes against humanity. I have worked prisons, and have been a cop long enough to understand how well the death penalty deters a rational human from commiting homicide. Even God gave the commandment to men to regulate their own, and gave the people the power to use the penalty of death in rightous situations. Check out the stories involved with each prisoner on this website. And it costs an average of $35,000 a year to house a death row inmate.

Here's a good one (hypothetically speaking, of course):

To kill the turd that raped/tortured/murdered your mother/girlfriend/infant daughter.

But I reckon it'd be much more "civilized" to let the guy live out his life, at the taxpayers' expense, of course, getting three hots and a cot and watching cable TV all day.

it takes the scum of the earth and puts them where they belong, 6 feet under. The only argument against it, is that it takes too long.

Killing someone and cremating them is cheaper than feeding them for 20 or 30 years although with all the appeals they can get far too much time is lost between their trial and execution.

I support the death penalty wholeheartedly! I am sick of people, who say that those committed of crimes so horrendous enough to be sentenced to death, should be spared because of some moral obligation to them. That they have "rights" as human beings. What "rights" did they give their victims. I also don't want to pay for them to eat, sleep and go to school in prison. They have better TV's there than most Americans do. They can go to college. Can most American's go? No! Yet we pay for them to. We give them everything they want in prison, except their freedom. Big deal!
Since most people who are against this, are people who believe in the bible, they need to realize that the bible preaches that the death penalty is what is right in the eyes of God.
Here is a site that will give light to that fact:

Empties out our jail system.
A dead prisonor costs less than a living one.
I know that in Oregon, there have been about 10-15 people sitting on death row just waiting for the governor to approve their deaths. These people have been sitting there for years, and our governor has no plans to change that.
So, if death row doesn't put people in line, what will?

Would save lots of money and hey if they deserve it let um have it but glad there isn't one for some things in the bible that say is deserveing of death I've done. But think it would deter lots of crime and put a general better type of society out there.

We are all sinners, if a person is to get the death penalty are we not the same as the convict? No i dont support the death penalty

David S
I wish there was one.....The fact is it satisfies an urge for revenge in society, and supposedly gives closure to the families of the victims, who sometimes attend the execution. The common argument that it is a deterrent, that criminals will stop and ask themselves, "Hey, do I want to risk my life by killing this cop?" has not proven to be true. In fact it is archaic and has been abandoned by most Western coutries.

cost of housing in mates, the crowding of prisons, the amount of reoffenders. I don't actually agree with these but these are the reasons many use

Why Not

There is none.. Sure, if you commit a crime, you should go to jail, maybe for life. But the state/government sentencing you to death is them commiting murder, which is what the crime commiter did, so how come they have the right to kill people who made mistakes, but we don't? pretty dang stupid. They should just be in jail and made to work so they regret it. But if they die, they will never regret. And guilt is worse than death, i think.

I don't support the death penalty no matter how heinous the crime God is the only one to decide that persons fate and for us to take a life is wrong we are not God we cannot make that decision.
