This is just a random question. Lets say that I got a "restraining order" on someone and then I made contact with that person or went near that person? What would happen? Is the order dismissed?

No...if you are that stupid, I expect you will find yourself held in contempt-of-court. Before you do something so foolish, I suspect you had better run it past a lawyer so you can see what the consequences are in your state. By the way, that does not terminate the restraining order...only the judge can do that (assuming the order doesn't have a date by which it expires). |

Depending on the wording, you may be held in violation of the order if you knowing cause it to be violated. The person would have a duty to move away from you , but if you continued to harass them, you could be held in contempt of a court order as well as being charged with harassment or menacing. In most cases, you are not allowed to contact a person that you have a restraining order against. |
