Shirt and Shorts Stolen, can i file a police report?

I had a pair of black shorts and a black t-shirt (my favorite t-shirt) in my gym locker. My lock had been stolen the day before so it was not locked. I went into gym class late by a few minuits and went about my daily buissness. when i came back every thing was seemingly in order but my shirt and shorts were gone. What should i do? Can i tell the school? The police? I am a vengeful person, no matter to to big or ridiculous i will get my shirt and shorts back. I don't care if the ends justify the means i just want my stuff back.
