Also this is what can happen. If they had a camera installed they'll have caught you - maybe that's why they didn't try to stop you because they had you on tape anyways.

Even if it is just a small thing you still might get in trouble.

What can happen is that the store security looks at the cameras they see you stealing they get your plates and track you down you go to jail and pay a fine. What will probably happen is nothing. If the store security didn't make an effort to stop you when the alarm went off then they probably don't have the energy to put the effort to do what I stated above. My advice is definitely do not go to that store again and don't steal. Even if the store doesn't come after you this time they could still have picture of you so security knows to watch you when your in the store or so that the staff know that if they see you you're not welcomed there and get a manager or security to escort you off the premises.

You stole something from a store.....you actually need to steal Mascara? How would you like it if someone came to your home and stole from you cause the wanted it. Mascara? Let us know what happened.

Honestly not too much. If they have cameras they probably would know what you look like. I worked at a grocery store once and we usually never did jack sh*t if the door alarms went off. Mostly what happened at my store was the store manager or security guy would check the cameras and print off the pic. Then they would post it in the staff room or communication board and tell people to "call a manager if you see this person".
Your probably safe as long as you dont go back to that store anytime soon. But you shouldnt steal anyway. Money is tight for everyone, EVEN PEOPLE WHO OWN STORES! That stolen makeup is paid by someone, and you just f'ed him over some makeup? Wow thats dumb. I'm sure getting some "free" makeup was fun for you but to most people it isnt worth the possibility of getting caught by the store employees or police. Then your in real trouble

Eventually they will find you. I did that once when I was 14...stupidly...and they always catch you on camera. Sometimes it takes months for the cops to catch up with you but eventually they do. They showed up on my doorstep 2 1/2 months after I did it. The best thing you can do is go back to the store and tell them what you did and give them the money or go to the police and do the same. If you wait than you will get caught and you'll have to pay a lot more...and it'll show up on any criminal background checks you have for jobs in the future. NO ONE wants to hire someone who steals.
