Is someone killed my relative and they were on death row, HANG THEM IMMEDIATELY |

I say once the appeals are finished, if the death sentence is upheld, just get it over with. Why keep them hanging on for years and years, at tax payer expense, when they are already sentenced to die? |

If by that you mean that executions should be sped up, then I completely agree with that. |

If they were executed when they are scheduled to it wouldn't be a problem! |

Yes. I think it should. I think they should not be sitting so long. If they have been sentenced to death, they should carry out the execution in a much more efficient and quicker process. VERY FEW death row inmates are ever actually found innocent after they've been sentenced. What the HECK are they waiting for?? It's not fair to the victim, the victim's family, the taxpayers, or even the inmate. Get on with it. I also believe we would have less crime if the executions were carried out quicker. It would deter people from committing the crime to begin with, if they knew they could be executed tomorrow for their crime, not sit up there watching t.v. for 10 years. |

Yes, death sentences should be carried out behind the courthouse. |

I think that in order to keep the prisons from overcrowding then we need to have death row. But what we really need is for the process to be sped up. It takes way too long.
they cant cost us money if they are dead now can they?? |

Yes
But as soon as they are convicted and sentenced time to go it's all over.
The reason they wait so long on appeals is the hope of lost evidence, or the witnesses have died or moved away or just don't remember what happen 15 years ago. |

No, and they shouldn't get to wait 20 years for execution. |

No, death row should not be eliminated. We should not keep them for 10 or 12 years before killing them...get rid of appeals and then get rid of the criminal within a week or two... |

if anyone kills one of my loved ones in cold blood.........torture them, then execute em
wait until some thug comes along and killsone of your loved ones, then tell me your oposition to it. |

Yeah, but that's because prisoners sentenced to death are a much greater escape and suicide risk, so they need extra gaurding.
Or are you asking if the death penalty should be abolished? |

I don't think it should be eliminated, but I do think the process should be sped up. If they have been found guilty and sentenced to death, then I say kill them within that month. I know if someone killed one of my kids, or someone in my family I woudn't want them to have the satisfaction of sitting on death row for 10 years finding peace with themselves or "finding God". If they are on death row, they murdered someone, and committed another crime. They should be killed also in my opinion and done so quickly, as to not cost tax payers even more. |

I personally am opposed to the death penalty, but most people I know are not. I don't understand how we are supposed to be the most advanced nation, but we still hang on to the death penalty. I think the USA is the only developed nation that still has a death penalty. |

The death penalty is dangerous because its definitiveness. If a mistake was made, if a bad lawyer stood for the defense, if it was politically convenient to apply it in a particular case and if any of other "ifs" are involved, justice is not served and innocent persons may be killed. A system has to be devised by which the death penalty is dealt only after a thorough proof of guilt has been shown, and then, it should be swiftly executed, without useless and costly appeals. If that system cannot be found, then the death penalty should be abolished and criminals put away behind bars for the rest of their lives (not for some years with possible parole benefits), at hard work establishments so that they can pay, in some measure, their debt to society and their own keeping, while maintaining a chance, should they be innocent, of the finding of the real perpetrator or the proof of their innocence. |

I say bring back Gladiators!!! make the inmates in death row fight to the death for a chance to live another 6 months, who ever wins the fight gets another fight in another 6 months and so on until they lose, they would get their 5 minutes of fame and everyone would be happy.
they could also sell merchandise like shirts of your favorite gladiator, put the fights on par per view and the money would go to pay to house the other prisoners. |

i do not believe we should kill anyone.. our culture damaged them by not teaching them as children to be good and helpful members of society... instead we alienated them and now they kill.... we created them as an apathetic selfish culture..... and i think we should segregate them from society without punishment,,,, and never murder.... killing is wrong,,,,
embrace the next generations children and crime will decrease... |
