Should Gay marriage be legal?

Accept people for who they are. I understand you have your beliefs and opinions, I also. And even if i am not "fond" of the idea, it's not my life and it's not hurting me either. They should be able to live their life the way they like. Once upon a time people used to believe blacks and whites shouldn't go to the same schools and weren't equal...people should someday open their eyes AND hearts and stop the B---S---! Is it really worth the bickering? No! What about the darn president and terrorists? There are bigger issues in the world. I respect your opinion...this is just mine.

I'm sort of on the borderline on my opinion. I too am Christian, and think marriage should be between a man and woman, but I also think its wrong for somebody to tell two people who love each other they can't wed, whether they're gay or straight.

Not only SHOULD they be legal, as of 6 minutes ago, they ARE legal in my state and everyone in YOUR state is welcome to come and get married here!

As for the asker, are you aware of the difference between civil and religious marriages? Civil marriages are what we are referring to when talking about SSM. No one is even hinting at requiring churches to sanction religious marriage - that is up to them. currently some do, some don't.

I don't hate you for it, but I do pity you for it. I know plenty of strong Catholics, and they can make the civil/religious distinction just fine without bigotry. They also can quote many many sections of the Bible where Jesus taught compassion, not judging others, etc. I bet you can too - so why not pay attention to them?

I too am a strong catholic but i think it should be legal.
God created us so we can be together and love. We are not God so who are we to judge others for their likes and dislikes.
Think about it, though it may be against our religion its also possible that God has allowed gay marriage to even exist because everyone should be allowed to be with who they chose to be. We are placed on this earth for a reason, every reason is different but wouldn't you think that God knew what he was doing. But hey were all entitled to our own opinions rite?

To make something illegal because it goes against your religion is a clear case of enacting laws recognizing one particular religion and prohibiting the free exercise of all others. That is in direct violation of the First Amendment of our Constitution. If you don't care what other people think, why look for agreement?

I disagree with you. How would it affect you or your life in any way if gay people got married? You can't force or expect other people to live by your ideas and values.

What if I told you it offends me that you're catholic? I don't believe it's right, it goes against my religion and it's just plain wrong. You shouldn't be allowed to practice catholicism because I just don't like it. (Don't mean that, by the way- I'm actually catholic too lol. Just trying to give you an example.)

Do you see how stupid that sounds? Whether or not you practice a religion doesn't affect me but I'm sure it means a lot to you... Gay people getting married doesn't affect you but I'm sure it means a lot to them. To each his own, who are we to judge or dictate to others whether or not they can marry? It's none of our business.

I'm not quite sure what your religious belief system has to do with the laws of the land... (oh wait! NOTHING!) Since marriage is a legal contract between two adults, the government has no overriding reason to limit that to two different genders only... I figure 10 years and the first legally sanctioned polygamous marriages will be occurring!
