My cousin's confirmation is tomorrow in New York. (4 hours away) Hi confirmation is at 11:00am. They have off tomorrow for some reason. Anyway, in order to attend, I would have to miss school. Plus, my dad is his sponsor. Should I be able to have an excused religious day? (I am in 9th grade by the way.)

You should be excused based on your father's wish that you attend. However, this is not a religious absence as you are not fufilling a religious obligation. You are merely attending a relative's religious ceremony.

The school should honor your dad's position that you should attend the confirmation.

You should be excused as this is a part of your religion and the state cannot stand in the way of you practicing your religion. I don't see anything wrong with this absence.
