The knife has gone? In all honesty there's very little they could do, so personally I'd leave it. |

Sounds like a gardener forgot to bring his tools inside. |

phone your local police station, not the emergancy number, and report it, better that they know, better to be safe than sorry |

Why? Call to report that a knife that isn't yours is missing from your yard? They'll throw you in the nut house, or at least they should! |
|

Eric

why would you call the police? they couldnt do anything about it anyways? it doesnt necessarily mean anything |

I agree with "The Dragon". It's probably a gardener's tool that a neighbor forgot. It doesn't sound serious to call the police. The cops are very busy people. If the knife had a lot of blood stains around it or if it's a real weapon like a real handgun or a bloodied sword that's just left abandoned, then you should call the cops. |

Hurts so good

No. The police will file report under B for bin. |

I wouldn't get involved, most probably the police wouldn't be interested anyway. |

Yes I would call the dispatcher and explain to them what you found and everything, that way even if they decide to not do anything about it, it's logged, it could be a piece to a very important puzzle, you never know! |

NO,I would`nt bother as the knife has now gone,It`s not worth the hassle. |

they wouldnt be able to do anything, it is possible a neighbour has moved it to stop a child picking it up! |

yes.have them round just in case.but why have you taken so long to do anything about it? |
|

Kat

yes, it cant hurt to call them x |

I agree with your implicit thought that this is a borderline case. On the one hand it's really weird and a bit unnerving. On the other, what can the police possibly do? I'd phone the police on the non-emergency number, explain what happened and ask whether you should report it formally or just forget about it. |

yep give them a call ( u never know) ! |

Crimewatch often encourages people to come forward on a particular case, no matter how small the detail. So I would contact the Police, not on 999, as this is not an emergency and tell them what you saw. |

Not 999 But Like The Other One For Stuff That Aint Emergencies Just To Let Them Know =] x |

Yes I would just to make them aware of the situation...If something was to happen, you would kick yourself that you didnt go to the police....better to be safe than sorry... |

telling the police removes responsibility from you. |

The flat and style you live is immaterial. What is material to us is safety of your lives and properties.
Unfortunately, you and your friend did the right thing at the wrong time.
Your friend will be late for work and you were ill are no excuses. Suppose, both of you were attacked? would you not be ill and your friend late for work?
What you should have done was to have called the police immediately and you secretly keep watch of the dangerous knife and who will show up to remove it before the arrival of the police.
Now, the knife is gone. Who took it away, you don't know. You sit by your computer asking "Can I call the Police?"
Call the police for what? |
|

hmmmm
|
Yes i would say call the police because if any thing happens with that knife we dont know the mechanics of it all but forensics may find traces on the knife that lead back 2 u and ur husband and u may get the blame for something u didnt do but if u call the police then they can deal with it and if anything happens it will be easy for them to eliminate you 2 as suspects. Better to be safe than sorry. hpe dis helps.x |
